Hey there,

I recently purchased Tron 2.0 at GOG. Installed and launching it effortlessly with heroic. But the mouse flickers like crazy.

I do find a guide regarding the Steam version and so on. But I cannot find anything to replicate with the heroic launcher.

Does someone of you have experience with mouse issues on older games and knows more than me (probably yes xD)? I'm not thaaaat long a Linux user. Any help would be appreciated :)

"mouse flickers like crazy" ... as in, mouse cursor shows & disappears rapidly?

if by chance you mean that the mouse motion isn't smooth, it could be a wayland/xwayland issue. I've came accross few older games where the mouse movement stutters noticeably, but if I use PROTON_USE_WAYLAND=0 so the game will run with xwayland, it's smooth as butter.

When looking around with the mouse, it goes back and forth and is not steady. Like a dirty mouseball back then.

I guess I need to put it into game argument? That did not work :/..

put it as environment variable in game's settings in heroic. https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher/wiki/Environment-Variables

this of course only works if you're using proton AND wayland (EDIT: regular valve's proton doesn't have this, btw. only some souped up forks, like proton-ge)

Put wayland on and proton 9 beta. Works now. Thanks a lot!

Something similar happened to me with Doom 64 and it stayed like that for a while, until Proton 9 was released. There was also a temporary solution but I don't remember what was it. Though you probably can find it on Doom 64's ProtonDB page.

You can try GE-Proton from version 9 I guess, unless you haven't already tried that.

No problem! I guess it was indeed a similar issue.

had this happen to me with EVE Online. What DE/WM are you using? If it's a wayland one are you using xwayland-satellite?

This issue would only happen to me with WMs like Hyprland, Niri, Sway, etc. on KDE Plasma didn't happen. the solution I found at least for Niri was ensuring xwayland-satellite was installed AND run the game in window mode.
