Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
1 year of lib No Kings protests: Nothing happens
1 single day of general strike: Heads are rolling
general strike happened because of the visibility of those protests. The world socialist web site was at the columbus no kings protest handing out fliers and a booth, and i'm sure there were communists around
protests give people permission and reduce the social anxiety to speak out when they see the numbers in them. Its a lot easier to speak up at your workplace about events when theres a massive protest walking past your place of business
protests can beget direct action and shouldn't be criticized when they do. 50501 has been coordinating ice watches and observations that put all the cameras there when violence occurs. I know people want to open carry at these protests ever since Pretti was killed. If everyone is concealed carrying it feels like a 1v30. If everyone is open carrying it may look like a 50v30
Point remains. General Strike over protests.
no disagreement from me there 🫡
No more nazis may be a more appropriate name
It’s honestly a pretty good rallying call. I recently retired the OG sign, but this has been my go-to protest slogan for the past year, inspired by Musk:

Planning that for March 28th is like an excuse to let tensions cool before actually doing anything. You want change? You need sustained action and you need to stroke while the irons HOT.
Arm up, if possible.
The no kings protests forbid any messaging on israel I hear tell. It belies how useless they will be, led by democrats. Our salvation will not come fighting under these dems and if you do not see that yet, well mean words.
The one I went to had a massive contingent of highly vocal/visible Palestine folks. ✊
The last one I went to also. There was a dedicated section along the march route where a local pro-Palestine group was set up. There were speakers after the march, one of which was representing that group as well. A few other speakers also recognized them to much applause.
Perhaps some specific local chapters decided to sweep this issue under the rug, or perhaps the one local to me ignored a directive to do so.
Same, was newish in town and that's how I met the local anti war org, they hold weekly protests every week, since 2003, go to them almost every week.
Please don't spread FUD about direct actions against the Trump regime. In some small towns, Democrats are the only game in town, and can control the protest agenda. In large cities, these protests are organized by a coalition of organizations, with Democrats playing a much smaller role.
If someone at the march has a problem with Palestinian liberation, you can always tell them to fuck off or you can find a section of the march where you're in good company. I have never seen a 1k+ person No Kings march without Palestinian flags.
This was in the country.
That tracks. I think you'll have a better time in the city.
Large protests are a great place to meet allies who can support you building alternatives to 'politics as usual' in rural areas too.
What does this even mean? There isn't a security checkpoint that will turn you away. If you wanted to, you could show up with a sign that says "God save the king. I love the Donald." There isn't some single entity that will say you're breaking the rules, you've just got to deal with the consequences of your actions.
That being said, the crowd is a blend of leftists and non-establishment liberals, I would be surprised if anyone took a Zionist stance.
Lastly, read the room. Yes, Israel is still continuing to commit genocide. That's not the top priority of the protest. This feels like going to a pro-choice rally and carrying a sign about climate change. Our views are likely aligned, but that's not our current focus.
Given us support for srael at the time it was not at all seperate issues. It was a main issue for a significant number of people.
source?
don't doubting you, too tired to check myself
Friends that went to summer ones were told that it was forbidden. Idk how they would forbid it if you did it anyway.
I love saying fuck you to people who complain about my sign.
