Oh it's the worm that died. You got my hopes up for a sec.

1992: “But when I was in England I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn’t like it. I didn’t inhale it, and never tried it again.” - Bill Clinton

2026: “I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate." - RFK Jr.

This is the level of debate we’re at now.

Like a bunch of people in this thread, I did some digging. Ended up on an NYT article (archive link)

“I have short-term memory loss, and I have longer-term memory loss that affects me.”

Anyway I just wanted to share this quote because it really tickled me. 😄 What a stupidly roundabout way of putting it.

Gives me "I used to do heroin, I mean I still do, but used to too" vibes

Speaking of which, are we sure the worm didn't just OD?

[–] meejle@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It certainly didn't OD on brain

I heard it starved to death, actually.

I have short term memory loss and short term memory loss and long term memory loss and short term memory loss that affects me.

Speaking of worms eating brains, there was this experiment where scientists trained a worm to find food. Then, they killed the worm, blended its brains or brain equivalent, and fed it to other worms. When those worms were put into the same environment, they already knew how to find the food, apparently having learned it from eating the other worm's brains.

So, it's possible that this worm ate some of RFK Jr's brains and that the worm went insane as a result.

The idea that a worm could eat a small portion of RFK Jr's brain and cause him significant mental impairment is laughable. He wasn't using his brain in the first place. Certainly the worm got the worst of the exchange.

The worm starved to death. Many people are saying.

More and more!

huh, according to the provided link:

It is possible that Kennedy could have contracted a parasitic worm in his brain, according to a medical expert, although it wouldn't have been "eating his brain." However, parasites such as tapeworms do not consume brain tissue, as Kennedy suggested during his deposition.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah the “eating my brain” part was his own depiction. So.

Yeah.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago

I'm not gonna argue with the man. A guy who looks like a year-old orange slice that fell behind the radiator says he had his brain eaten by a worm... I'll believe him.

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Wha.... I had to tap out at the part where he offered to eat 5 more worms before debating Trump and Biden... I don't... I can't...

Worm died of hunger

[–] fireweed@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unless I missed something, the linked article does not attribute the tapeworm's death to the mercury poisoning.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I think it was the timeframe. They happened at roughly the same time when he went to get checked for a brain tumor.

Memory loss is more commonly associated with mercury poisoning than with a parasitic worm, experts say.

Kennedy told the paper that he attributed his mercury poisoning diagnosis to his diet. He said medical tests showed his mercury levels were 10 times what the Environmental Protection Agency considers safe.

Not saying he should be anywhere close to the position of power and leadership he is in, but RFK Jr. really seems like one of the more benign members of this government.

[–] JensSpahnpasta@feddit.org 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm really wondering how you came to this conclusion. In my opinion he will be the one with the most death and suffering on his hands - his actions against vaccines on a global scale will kill millions of people and will harm even more.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 6 points 1 month ago

I’m really wondering how you came to this conclusion.

My guess is by being uninformed.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I’m sure it seems that way because the damage he’s inflicting takes longer to show as mass suffering than, say, continuing a genocide or stopping funding for starving people. But it’s still very bad.
