Dreadmyst is an online fantasy RPG running on its own engine. Customize your stats and abilities as you slaughter the aberrations plaguing a cursed land. Choose from four playable classes, level up, farm gear, run dungeons (PvE), and fight other players (PvP). Tab target combat.

Summary from PC Gamer:

This fantasy MMO looks like a mix of Ultima Online (because of the ye olde isometric stylings) and World of Warcraft (because of the combat). If you long for MMOs of yore and resent modern monetisation schemes, this is worth checking out. As an enthusiast project, the devs have "no plans to introduce paid content or monetization."

hmm, this could be interesting.

But as a unsocial recluse, how is the solo gameplay? I doubt my regular gaming group would be interested in this.

A quick glance through the steam reviews implies that there's some solo content and some multiplayer-only stuff. Guess the only way to find out is to dive in!

seems like you need an account on dreadmyst.com and login via vpns is blocked. nice.

As a completely free project for an online game, those are both reasonable requirements.

It's hard to police repeat offenders for various types of abuse with anonymized IPs, and it's an online-exclusive game... Of course you need an account?

What Custom Anti-Cheat software does this use?

I did a little digging. It looks like the dev posted to Reddit and answered a question about this:

It's an online game where the logic runs server side. That means most of the "anti-cheat" mostly revolves around anti-botting which is a server problem. Steam asks to know if you're using an industry recognized anti-cheat system. I'm not, and it's questionable how useful one of those would be for an online game like this.
