For now... I fear the day a competent Government tries its hand at the corruption game.

They already did. It's why you didn't hear about Operation Northwoods for 50 years and also why Wikileaks came into prominence. Also why, even after everything this year, we still don't know who all of Epstein's co-conspirators were, and probably never will.

My feelings exactly.

“I just got called on by the teacher but was fantasizing about the lunch lady instead of paying attention” face

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Did you guys have hot lunch ladies? My school sure fucking didn’t.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

No, we didn't. But, about a year after I graduated, I was delivering pizzas and ended up seeing the lunch ladies, the janitor, and a couple bus drivers smoking weed, drinking beers, and playing D&D on a Saturday. It was evening and it looked like they had been going at it all day. So, they may not have been hot but they were way cooler than I gave them credit for in high school.

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don’t think the lunch ladies would have to be hot for Kash Patel to fantasize about them.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 1 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly I have no idea what a man like Patel would fantasize about, but I’m sure it would horrify me.

Our esteemed FBI Director always seems to look like he's just shat his pants.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

It’s all the cocaine he got bribed with.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 7 points 2 weeks ago

Ease up, he's just a pug. Between the in breeding and being squeezed into a suit, he deserves some wiggle room. He's just a little guy, it's not his fault his eyes bulge out and he's a walking punchline

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Because he did.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

He always looks like someone has a gun in his back.

A hacker has just activated his wireless buttplug.

Wouldn't even pay for a full Adobe Pro licence to get the 'Redact' function.

[–] sirico@feddit.uk 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Which is hilarious as free open source tools exists to do it

[–] First_Thunder@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

What are you? A communist?

[–] cogman@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What's been unredacted is proof of improper redactions.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah, some of it was banks that paid off the victims, which is weird too. I don't have faith in the journalists to look into it, but I really hope someone does.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Allison Gill on Daily Beans is t going to drop it.

She’s the one that broke the news that FBI teams had training videos on how to flag mentions of Trump in the Epstein files, as well as that Maxwell’s sex offender status has been waived so she can be in a low security facility (and is actually allowed to leave the facility similar to the original plea deal with Epstein.)

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 weeks ago

“Please don’t fire me, Lord Trump. I mean King Donald”.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

My guess is they used a very old version of Acrobat, because they're cheap-ass mofos with no idea how software works or the fact that this redacting issue with Acrobat has been an issue for governments and businesses for decades.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 weeks ago

I'm reminded of a quote from the great Mel Brooks' film Dracula: Dead and Loving It starring the magnificent Leslie Nielsen.

Dr. Van Helsing: My friends, we are fortunate! He's an imbecile!

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, I remember my first year, before I learned you need to uncheck a box to make sure the pdf can't be unflattened...

[–] PMP@aussie.zone 16 points 2 weeks ago

I'm wondering if the flattened ones can still be bypassed with vector software. If the pdf's don't have security: open with illustrator or inkscape, delete black shapes, font get left behind as outlines, resave as pdf, OCR with acrobat. Hey presto... Searchable documents again.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

I think he's just trying to figure out wtf Potato merch is.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I saw a video that said that Doge stopped federal agencies from paying for the pro adobe acrobat version.

And that one would have actually made it full proof redacted. So

Essentially doge has done one good thing for the u.s with their incompetence.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

He looks like the comic relief character in a boner comedy.

[–] beemikeoak@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Wait until they release everything.
