This also keeps it safe from thrown beer bottles

Do I detect a Blues Brothers reference?

Luckily for us, a generous spray of Rosemary extract mixed with water in a spray bottle worked to keep our cats off our tree. My wife also managed to capture a photo of our more athletic cat loudly complaining after he discovered the change. A very merry Christmas for our tree.

Interesting. Do cats hate the smell of rosamary extract?

[–] ignirtoq@feddit.online 5 points 1 day ago

Yes. If you don't already have some, your local pet shop might sell it. I think that's where my wife got it.

My cats would be climbing that cage. Nothing be safe.

There is a Polaroid from when me and my twin were toddlers with us looking up at the Christmas tree that my parents put inside our play pen cube thing to keep it safe from us and the cat. The cat is looking up at it as well.

This year we put ours outside the living room window.

It was causing too many problems with the cats.

What happened last year? I have no cats or Christmas trees, so I have no idea what could even potentially happen.

Cats like to climb things and something with lots of low branches sure is inviting. Results can include a knocked over tree, bent branches if you have a fake tree, and knocked off ornaments.

Sounds like a recipe for chaos and destruction.

They got territorial over it. One steals branches, the other likes to nest in the blanket underneath.

It was starting fights then the male cat sprayed on it and that was the last straw.

Yikes! Sounds like cats and Christmas trees are a terrible combo.

Any tree caught breaking the rules will spend a night in the The Box.

This is kinda brilliant and I never would have thought of it.
