Why are they phrasing it like it's a new thing?
They are literally on a platform by a company that spearheaded global surveillance.
These guys are still only on youtube, I see. Disappointing.
Creators will go where the eyeballs are. It makes zero sense to not publish on the site that gets you millions pf views and thousands of dollars vs ones with hundreds of views and tens of dollars.
Nowhere did I say "stop using youtube", but I can see how "only" can be overlook. Better might've been: these guys still do not publish to youtube alternatives. They don't have to stop using youtube immediately. They can however publish to other platforms and get eyeballs on those too.
Perhaps the effort to publish on other sites isn't worth the cost to them.
What cost? Peertube can mirror a youtube channel. It take 10 minutes to setup - max. Odysee can do the same, but that takes more setup. If I'm not mistaken BitChute has the same feature.
So no, I doubt it's the effort.
I mean that the effort involved to maintain multiple site's content is not worth the monetary and exposure value they receive.
What maintenance will they have to do on a mirrored page?
Considering that viewers are directly (ok, maybe not so directly) paying them for the content on stuff like Odysee, I'd say, the additional 5 minutes required to log into it and copy-paste the title and description and click on the submit button isn't really much and neither is the ~1 hour they would require to keep the tab open in the background (while doing other stuff themselves) for the upload to finish.
Might just be that they uploaded a few times and say their YouTube views plummeting, because only those people went there and not many new people came in, which made them reconsider.
