!egg_irl

!egg_irl is for widely relatable memes about questioning one's gender or being an egg (a trans person in denial) as well as other eggy topics.

If you are looking for a place to discuss something specific to you or especially if you need help or are in crisis, we have communities and resources that can support you linked at the bottom of this sidebar.

General Rules:

  1. No bigotry.

  2. No spam, bots, or vote farming.

Rules on Content:

  1. No reposts.

  2. No personal-life posts, bingo cards, quizzes, selfies, "trans/not trans" lists, picrew, or non-memes.

  3. No visible names or usernames.

  4. Do not post or link to pornography.

Rules on Post Titles and Tags:

  1. Posts must be titled "egg_irl". An emoji or two is OK, but they have to be between "egg" and "irl".

  2. Posts that assume the viewer's gender and/or contain potentially triggering content must be spoilered and tagged at the beginning of the post title. Example content-warning tags that you can copy include the following:

    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transmasc]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transfem]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Nonbinary]
    • [CW: Transphobia]
    • [CW: Violence]
    • [CW: Weapons/Firearms]
    • [CW: Disturbing Imagery]
    • [CW: Fictional Egging]
  3. You may optionally include other tags, such as:

    • [Transmasc Meme]
    • [Transfem Meme]
    • [Nonbinary Meme]
    • [Gender-Nonspecific Meme]

Rules on Post Text:

  1. If possible, include an image description for accessibility.

  2. Add sources for art.

Rules on Comments

  1. If a post is tagged with a specific gender identity, keep the conversation centered on that identity.

  2. You must follow the Egg Prime Directive. You may not push or coerce people into identifying or not identifying a certain way. You must respect them as the gender they claim to identify as. In addition it is extremely in poor taste to make assumptions about other people's identities based on external factors, we understand it cannot be helped but it is best not to as it can affect the way you treat others in noticeable ways. Read more about this decision here.

  3. No Ewwphoria posts. Posts which contain misogyny, misandry, transmisogyny, transmisandry, or enbyphobia for the purpose of expressing euphoria are not allowed here. At best they bring anger to others, and at worst they may trigger people's dysphoria. People who create such posts will have them removed and may be banned at moderator discretion.

Recommendations:

We strongly encourage you to include your pronouns in your account bio so that others know how to refer to you without misgendering you. If you're questioning or unsure of your pronouns, that's totally coolβ€”just say so.

Will I ever stop feeling like I need to β€œprove” my trans-ness to myself? Like, I know that I am, but it’s that obnoxious intrusive thought β€œbut what if you’re just faking?” that keeps coming back

Have you ever read Mia Violet's memoir? I found a few things there that really helped. She's a good writer. it's called "Am I Trans Enough?"

I read it once before, and I really enjoyed it! Maybe I should read it again

it is but it has been only 4 hours (or so idk; time is broken on this OS) since we had a small discussion.

I post here every 3 days, so I'm only doing my usual duty ;3

I'm 100% able to reassure and affirm everyone.

Everyone except me. I'm clearly lying and making it all up

Valid for thee, but not for me

But what about that time you put sweets containers under your pjamas to simulate breasts?
Fetish thing YOU'RE ACE Ace people can have fetishes

But what about that time someone asked you whether you'd rather be a boy or a girl and you answered "there's advantages and disadvantages to both, right?"?
She was a girl and I didn't want to offend her by implying her gender was less desirable to be

Why do play female characters so often, even when male ones are available?
I play just as many male ones and always chose the male character in avatar creators
Because you want to or because you feel you have to?
Because I'm lazy and just make a character to match my face

Why are so many of your OCs women and girls?
Because I don't want to be sexist, even within the sanctuary of my own mind

Why are you so concerned about sexism? You're a misanthrope
Because I might get cancelled
In your own mind?
1984 style thought crime legislation is coming any day now!

Why did you change your name to [redacted] on your DS?
For like a minute! Geez, why are you reading into that one at all
Why do you remember that one at all?

Which is a bigger stretch: A cis person experiencing all of these things, or you being trans?

Honestly, past signs are the least important indicator of whether or not someone is trans. Wanting to be another gender right now is the best proof one can find.

If you can point to signs from before you even had language for your experiences, you have a silver bullet against the "indoctornated" argument. What, were executives of the pharmactical industry projecting into my dreams with animal magnatism?

One of my happiest childhood memories was being mistaken for a girl

I enjoyed dressing as a girl in a stage show I was part of that used boys dressed as girls as a joke

I more often than not use androgynous or feminine avatars in computer games

But I'm very comfortable in my male skin. I'm quite certainly cis. The stuff as a kid was just because I had a big sister I looked up to, the games, I don't know, roleplaying as something you're not is fun, maybe

Why not try some voice training.

If you're not trans then you can have some fun roleplaying as something you're not, which you state above is fun, maybe

If you are trans then there'll never be an easier time than now, before your egg cracks and you actually start feeling the dysphoria

It's ok, you've done well. Most good girls struggle to accept their goodness :)

Too real πŸ₯²

An early sign, you say? Like back when I was five years old in kindergarten, would that be early enough? Nah, I don't think so. That probably didn't mean anything.

[–] luce@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

and then theres me who can't remember my childhood. was there signs? probably, i just cant find any because i dont remember anything. before started transitioning i was just some hollow husk or shell, some pound of flesh.

which is the best evidence for me being trans, i guess.
