He's just looking for a bribe in the form of a settlement, as usual.
World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
- Blogsites are treated in the same manner as social media sites. Medium, Blogger, Substack, etc. are not valid news links regardless of who is posting them. Yes, legitimate news sites use Blogging platforms, they also use Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube and we don't allow those links either.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Probably also wants to take down a publicly funded media outlet because he can't get them to lie for him. NPR and PBS have had their funding obliterated, and BBC is popular in America even though its based in the UK.
Christ, what an asshole
How does that even work. BBC Panarama programme, which airs in the UK, made the claims, yet he is filling a lawsuit in Miami?
I guess he's trying to sue BBC America?
I guess it's time for me to sue America for £1 trillion in my local court for ruining my Internet scrolling experience
I mean, you can sue for whatever. Doesn't mean that you'll win or that the court won't throw it out.
Or that you'll ever get paid if you do win.
BBC America is a subsidiary of AMC Networks.
He is filing in Florida because he is resident there.
That just raises more questions.
How can person A sue company B, which is headquartered in country B and releases products in country B, in country A. Company B could have followed all the laws of Country B so it wouldn't be illegal in that country.
Well this is going to be one of the battles in the case. The Panorama episode in question was never aired in the US, but the Trump team argue that VPN use means some Floridians may have accessed it. The BBC’s team will seek to argue that such use isn’t significant enough to cause reputational damage to Trump in Florida.
This is basically a shake-down. So far, American media has rolled over and written it off as the cost of doing business. He may think that would be the case here.
It would be amazing if they counter sue for 15 billion.
the most vexatious litigious karen in the world.
Greedy snowflake Karen. He's like the kid that tattles on you for every little thing.
hes the final evolution of the karen.
In unrelated news, US suspended $31B trade deal with UK.
No, seriously: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/dec/15/us-pauses-tech-prosperity-deal-britain-donald-trump-keir-starmer
The fat, old, lying orange felon tried the same shit on Canada, so Canada found a ton of new trading partners, some of which were impacted by TACO boy's tariffs - they are doing fantastic.
UK is not Canada. I don't know if you heard but they left EU because they were going to find a ton of new trading partners and US was supposed to be one of the big ones. They are in an incredibly weak position and US is trying to exploit it. I wouldn't be surprised if they paid the bribe to Trump through a settlement to save this deal.
If only there was somewhere that the UK could make a trade deal with nearby.
Call Mark Carney.
Ft reports 10bn. Must pay now else it will be 20bn tomorrow.

Ahhh, I love the American cultural phenomenon of suing anyone and everyone for absurd amounts of money
Yes, you showed my interview by cutting up what I said, but still staying true to journalistic integrity!? Give me five billion dollars!
I don't think people can even comprehend how much money that is, for... telling the truth?
This guy is such a dildo.
Hey now. Dildos can do some good.
Fuck, he's stupid.
I live in the Uk and I hate the BBC but they used two clips of trumps speech that incited violence to imply that he incited violence. I don't see the problem.
The attacks were so violent that one officer committed suicide and many more were injured.
Tell it like it is: trump got people killed (including his own supporters) because he wanted to undermine democracy. Scum
This is great. Maybe it'll set the precedent that news stations have to report fair accurate news. Then we can go after Fox
Fake news only applies to sources Dear Leader doesn't like.
That won't happen of course.
TRUMP SHOULD BE ARRESTED
Does putting the intervening time appreciably change the message, the context, or the effect?
The Society of Profesional Journalists, in the US, has a code of ethics that states, "Seek truth and report it. Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair. Journalists should be honest and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information." (emphasis added)
I watched the J6 hearings. I've seen his rally speeches. The entire purpose of news media is to convey meaning without distorting the message, the context, or the effect.
