One of my gripes with smart phones: They’re so thin that they’re unergonomic to hold, which makes them prone to slip out of my hand. So I need a protective cover, which makes them thicc again.
The iPhone Air would've been a really refreshing change if it was uniformly thin (i.e. like now, but without the camera bulge).
In the other extreme I wonder why there aren't many phones that would fill up the space up to the protruding camera modules with battery - this way a smaller phone could have the battery capacity of a larger and thinner one.
ports and no wobble, caused by a stupid camera aisle, thanks.
At least MacBooks got a bit thicker and got a few extra USB-C ports after Ives left Apple.
And HDMI port came back. And shitty butterfly keyboard went away. And physical escape key came back. And touchbar went away.
A whole load of mistakes that had to be fixed.
I got fed up with this and ran across ulefone. Some of their phones are downright ridiculous but I'm happy with mine.
It's a waterproof brick with good grip and a 10,000mAh battery. Good for up to 4 days. It's also got rubberised grips and takes a beating. Oh, it also has a headphone port, and thermal imaging.
Well I just finished looking at their website for 20 minutes.
Those look pretty awesome, and I know that I'd find reasons to use the thermal imaging all the time.
Does it run pure android (site says something like that), can you install your own OS, and how is the update support?
"Consumer" 🤣👍 Lemmy definitely represents.
This was relevant before they added a bunch of ports back and made the MacBook Pro thicker in 2021, but ok.
I'll have one order of no ports besides USB C and no apple products please.
I'm getting soundly rebuked elsewhere on Lemmy for voicing this opinion. :)
