I throw sticks for my dog, but I’ve heard they’re actually a pretty terrible idea for a play toy.

Sticks are fairly harmless unless your dog has a habit of eating the splinters, but that's true of anything they want to chew on.

I guess in places where naturally fallen detritus isn’t available this is a great idea. There’s woods all around me, these would be pretty redundant.
