Welcome to Risa

All the pleasure of shore leave, none of the holodeck glitches.

Rule 1 — Be Civil, Not KlingonThis is a vacation planet, not the neutral zone.

  • No harassment, brigading, or trolling
  • No bigotry
  • Keep the banter playful, not hostile

Rule 2 — No Prohibited CargoSome things aren’t welcome aboard.

  • No spam or scams
  • No porn or sexually explicit content
  • No illegal content
  • NSFW memes must be properly tagged

Rule 3 — Keep It TrekPosts should be Star Trek memes or Trek-adjacent humor.

  • Crossovers are fine
  • Low-effort “unrelated” memes may be spaced out the nearest airlock

Rule 4 — Gatekeeping Belongs in a Black Hole
You’re welcome to have your own opinions on what counts as “real” Star Trek but forcing your view on others or pretending it’s the only valid one? That’s not the Starfleet way.
Everyone’s Trek is valid, from TOS purists to Lower Decks shitposters, and you don't get to dictate what is real or not for everyone.

If you see a post that violates the rules, or that doesn't inspire Jamaharon, report it so the mods can handle it.

Otherwise grab a horga’hn, order a Risan Mai Tai, and enjoy your shore leave.

I was watching the X-Files last night and saw a dude who looked very familiar. Suder from Voyager. in X-Files he's playing a psychopathic serial killer who is psychic. In Voyager he's a betazoid psychopath. And I sent it to cm0002 like "lol this is funny" and he said I wonder if he's been in anything recent. So I looked him up.

I thought he was just some random dude who was typecast. An extra. He's hollywood royalty. Why? Because he's known for playing one of THE serial killers. He's the fucking voice of Chucky and had been WELL before X Files and that Voyager episode...

Piter de Vries (the Harkonnen mentat) from the David Lynch Dune too.

And a Twisted Mentat no less!

Ah, yes. I was never a big fan of horror movies. Brad will always be Grima Wormtounge to me. That or Brother Edward, a convicted and mind wiped serial killer, in Babylon 5 S3E4 "Passing Through Gethsemane". He's a great character actor.

Wow. I had no idea that Suder and Wormtongue were the same actor. That’s crazy

He was the doctor on Deadwood too.

This is the role that made him an icon for me. I knew him from tons of his creep roles. For him to play such a stand-up dude, and so well, was revalatory.

Yeah, he was really good on that show and it's a great show all around.

You should watch _One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest _ from before he was typecast as a creep. Fuck Nurse Ratched!

Seriously the casting for Voyager was absolutely top-notch

Brad Dourif is a master of playing a bad guy. He was also in Fringe, some of the new Halloween movies, and the questionable newer bad Lieutenant movie.

The Gemini Killer in The Exorcist III.

[–] christopher@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

He was also in the game Myst 3. Played the part well

Love Brad Dourif. Watch this YouTube video if you want to learn more about his career from a brilliant storyteller.

He was once a man of Rohan!

Be silent! Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth.

(Paraphrasing.. I cant remember the exact quote.)

Looked at his IMDB. Man's been working steady since the 70s!

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000374/

Also, I had no idea how many Chucky movies existed.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Ah, so you've met Piter De Vries. He's very good.

[–] VerseAndVermin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

He was the doctor in Deadwood as well. I believe he was largely a likable person iirc in that. Oh and he being freaky over an alien in one of the lesser Alien flicks. His daughter also plays in the Chucky universe as well.
