It's simple: give me a HUD with my vitals and other useful stats like a video game and show me the optimal response to get through dialogue.

We're definitely going to see something like that with these. Minimap is already there in some. A TODO app will look like the quest log. Eventually when these become true AR you'll have waypoint symbols, markers above key objects etc.
I will say it will probably be more like VR games where developers need to be a bit more subtle and people sometimes want to put all the HUD elements away to get a more immersive experience.

A big turnoff is that one needs stupid shit like an FB account to use them, at the moment. Like holy shit, why would I let corpos like meta spy on who I'm talking to or when I'm playing with a wiener (talking about the dog of course, you pervert).
I hate wearing glasses (I have to) and I already have a phone addiction. I guess "smart" glasses aren't for me.
I've been wearing glasses for so long that they just seem like a part of me, really. I'd imagine that's often the case when you've had them all your life.
I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years and I still find it annoying AF.
This is very true and even extends to there being multiple device categories for rather different use cases like the XReal type display glasses and industrial/military AR visors or passthrough-based stuff like the Apple Vision Pro currently.
I do find it a whole lot more interesting than phones where things are so set now that you don't see so much new stuff. When it comes to the everyday wearable smart glasses I would personally bet on something more like Meta's efforts being the most successful in the long run and they've certainly had the early successes. I'd love to see some more bulky devices that are more capable, sort of like Inmo Air 3 but while also fully embracing the aesthetic of being a crazy cyberpunk goggle thing and making it a fashion statement.
