In 2022 I was among the top 1% of karma earners on reddit. And all I did was say things that made me laugh, or think, or just generally contribute to the conversation. I didn't post much original content. Just mostly text replies in the comments.
Then in 2023 they banned me. I hadn't broken rules. It was automods claiming my text btoke rules. When I read the text of the offending posts, I do not understand. It didn't break rules.
The 3rd strike that banned me wad on /r/Cleveland. Someone posted a picture of a guy stealing his bike.
I posted the reply:
When I was 7, I had my bike stolen. Kind of looked like this guy. However that was 30 years ago, so it can't be him. Maybe it's a father/son business?
I got banned for "Harassment of reddit community members".
Who am I harassing exactly?
10 year old account. Something like 200k comment karma. Probably close to a million comments.
My account was "reviewed by a human" who denied my appeal 45 seconds after I submitted it.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions on how it was handled. And no. I never got my account back.
