you’re still paying by the total page count

The book doesn't actually have blank pages. Page 2 is marked 145.

Couplehood by Paul Reiser, apparently.

As someone in IT, they won't read that page and will still try to get a refund due to missing pages 😁

My boss actually makes people open their laptop and look up the email they ignored, so they can follow the original instructions. It's painful to watch, is terrible customer service, but he definitely gets the desired result, which is to be left alone.

145 sheets or paper cost nothing to make from pulp that comes from trees that get clearcut In the forest, driven out by log truck, milled into pulp and made into paper. Shipped to the manufacturer by ship, train, or truck, bound into a book that weighs twice as much as needed, shipped around the country/world by ship, train, or truck.

There aren't actually 145 blank pages. The numbering just starts at 145

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 50 points 1 month ago

That is an important clarification. Thank you!

They're not exactly blank...

"This page intentionally left blank"

Then how would it appear as though they're in the middle of the book? Wasn't that the entire point? You would need blank pages to do that.

They said they like having pages behind them and being in the middle of the book... To me that implies blank pages.

It's a mental game. It's suspension of disbelief. You do have pages behind you - 144 of them. Obviously; Because this is page 145. So you are in the middle. You're 145 pages in. It says so right there.

Yeah except the person from the scenario who asks you how far you are, and you say "about halfway through" will look at you on what is clearly page one and be like "yeah ok."

Whatever, the whole thing is stupid anyway.
