Isn't the joke "because 7 8 9" older than both?
What does it even mean?
It originates from a discussion about a guy's height, he was 6 foot 7 inches. However, that's not really important to how it's used, it's just a mindless phrase to say.
I asked my nine year old daughter, and she said it doesn't mean anything, it's just brain rot to confuse the adults.

I think its whole thing is that it doesn't really mean anything; it's literally just an empty trigger word
I don't get what the annoyance is with "6-7". I've been using it for years and it just means "approximately" or "thereabouts".
The way my kids use it, it doesn't mean anything. They just say it randomly in a drawn out voice.
Can you use it in a sentence?
I cannot. You can only realise it's been used after it has already happened. I can try to think of a sentence all day but I will not come up with one because it can only come naturally.

No, it just doesn't really appeal to me and many others which is why I would argue that something that is funny because it shouldn't be can easily be better than something that is funny because it's a sex thing. In this comparison I think I dislike both equally though.
