Snitch to whom? Pam Bondi? Kash Patel?

Who is it do you suppose would offer a plea deal to take down Trump?

If anything it's the opposite. Gislane Maxwell said Trump did nothing wrong and got transferred to Club Fed and will probably wind up walking out of that "prison" in a few months.

If it's a federal charge you're dodging (which is what it would be if you went to the island), then no, Trump's DOJ will not give you a plea deal. They might give you one for accepting sole responsibility and absolving Trump, though a judge has to approve that.

Like, there's no way in hell these files haven't been doctored, right? Months of obfuscation and deflection, and then suddenly Trump's fine to sign their release? There's no way.

[–] Sarothazrom@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

You are correct.

[–] Bonifratz@piefed.zip 16 points 19 hours ago

I'm kind of amazed that they weren't leaked a long time ago already. But I guess potential whistleblowers are aware it could literally be their death if they got found out.

It's also in large part Trump's fault that any attention is on the files. He was the one pushing the conspiracy theory, and running on the promise of releasing them. So anyone who's name is in the files can blame Trump for them not getting away with it.

I don't like that line of logic, but it works out

He was the one pushing the conspiracy theory, and running on the promise of releasing them.

He was on the gravy train of Pizzagate from way back in 2016 and he's been dining out on it ever since. But to say he was pushing it? No, he was just echoing all the talk radio goons who wanted to smuggle in transphobia under the banner of "Save The Children".

Trump's just along for the ride on so much of this shit. He's a bagman with a serpent's tongue, but he's not really guiding any of these decisions except to take his own slice.

So anyone who’s name is in the files can blame Trump for them not getting away with it.

Name one person who hasn't gotten away with it, other than Epstein himself and Maxwell if you're being generous.

Larry Summers didn't even quit his day job teaching at Harvard. This is a freak who has been dining out lavishly as Economics Svengali since Mark Zuckerberg was in college. He's been nailed dead-to-rights getting PUA advice from Epstein as recently as months before Jeff unalived himself. He's "stepping away from public life for a little while". Dude's set his social media to mute and hoping this will all blow over in a few months. And he's probably right. Good chance he gets bookings on MSNBC and CNN to denounce Zohran Mamdani's far-left socialist mayoralty right alongside Steve Bannon before the end of next year.

The joke of the "Epstein Files" is that you absolutely could put up names, addresses, and lurid details about each and every one of his friends and nothing would happen to any of them. Maybe another Luigi Mangione proves me wrong. That's the best anyone can reasonably hope for.

Amazingly, it was also the kind of thing he could've vaporwared away, just by (mostly) following policy. All he had to do was claim (from the beginning) that there are ongoing investigations, agency policy is to not release info about those investigations, and then lie that there are going to be arrests really soon.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

He wouldn't even have to lie! If he were smart, he'd have his corrupt FBI diligently investigate any Democrats in the files and nail them to the wall, probably on technically unrelated charges so as to avoid having to submit the files to the court

M.A.D. Mutual assured destruction…

Why would the trump admin give a plea deal for snitching on the trump admin?

[–] bobo1900@startrek.website 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That works under the assumption that Trump falls and crumbles

[–] zxqwas@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Plea deals are made beforehand, so you'd negotiate that with Trump admin. Pardons may be given after, but the likely candidates in the line of succession are appointed by the Trump admin, or in the case of an (extra) election you have no clue who it will be.

The better idea is to probably to suck up to Trump even more and hope he or one of his successors pardon you.

Or just flee to a country that does not extradite to the US.

[–] bobo1900@startrek.website 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

If the situation turns out where Trump is falling (unlikely but not impossible), you accept a plea deal with current Trump allies that will wait for him to look away and throw him under the bus, so someone else will take power.

Or recognise that youre screwed and take down those who screwed you. I love when infighting tears criminal organizations apart.
