So he put tariffs on importing a bunch of staple crops that America doesn’t produce?

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 hours ago

"I've decided to stop beating you. Now thank me". Whew. You know those evangelicals are gonna eat this shit up though because that whole concept is their core belief.

[–] AngularViscosity@piefed.social 2 points 2 hours ago

reciprocal

Gee, I wonder what got them there.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 16 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The idea that this administration truly believes we’d accept this as evidence of him actually doing something is fucking insulting.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 15 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

We aren't the target audience.

Unfortunately, there is an audience that will swallow this rancid shit and ask for seconds.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Swallow especially if the rancid shit is from a guy named Bubba.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

Fair point.

... and now corporate partners have raised food prices on everyone.

The removal of tariffs should allow these corporations to lower their prices but they won't ... because those prices have now been normalized and will never go down. The corporations will take the savings and keep prices high.

That was the reason for the original tariffs ... that was the reason for removing them.

They gave corporations tax breaks to save them money ... then gave them an excuse to raise prices and funnel even more money into their pockets.

They're Making American Great Again ... for a very small group of really wealthy Americans

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 11 points 8 hours ago

Also, don't forget that IF the courts deem all these tariffs void and they have to be paid back, guess who gets the payments.

Hint, not us.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 26 points 11 hours ago

Sawing off the branch their prosperity is built on. Hoping, perhaps not incorrectly, that they'll be dead before we all hit the fucking ground.

[–] JeSuisUnHombre@lemmy.zip 13 points 10 hours ago

Now that tariffs are removed we get the opportunity to implement new tariffs that will raise prices even more

[–] henfredemars@lemdro.id 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like the system is working as intended. In America, money votes!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 9 points 8 hours ago

Money has more rights than people

It's a Plutocracy .... a government run by the wealthy or those with money

rather than

A Democracy ... a government run by the people

Also, don’t forget to thank your lover for not beating you anymore.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 hours ago

more like beating you slightly less.

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 27 points 11 hours ago

Holy gaslight batman!

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Create the problem and take credit for undoing it. This is all Trump has ever done.

[–] pruwybn@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 hours ago

That's not true, he's also taken credit for things other people have done.

[–] manxu@piefed.social 25 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

That's BOUND to be satire, right???

[–] huppakee@piefed.social 20 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I believe they're trying to put The Onion out of business.

[–] Pistcow@lemmy.world 14 points 10 hours ago

I feel like the Onion should sue due to impact of their business.

How to make maga blame Biden for something . Step 1. Be a fucking moron day 1.

Step 2. Backtrack on being a moron but make yourself look like a hero..

Step 3. Blame Joe Biden

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 12 points 11 hours ago

Delivering Fuck All Squared.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

Guaranteed companies don't lower prices lol. Then they can blame Mexicans some more!

Were those part of the national security tariffs?

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

And the MAGAt moron brigade cheers like mad...as if the Pedo-in-Chief isn't the one who set those tariffs in the first place. Dumbasses. I'm amazed they can even breath without conscious thought.

Team Trump took the US trade deficit with each country, divided it by our exports, and called that a "tariff" being imposed by the trading partner. They then imposed "reciprocal tariffs" of 50% of that trade deficit, with a minimum of 10%. It is shockingly stupid from a regime known for shocking levels of stupidity.

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Step 1: Think of some numbers.

Step 2: ...

Step 3: Global economic supremacy.

...apparently.

[–] WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

For realz this time

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 3 points 10 hours ago

If the administration wasn't pure fucking evil, I'd admire the audicity of taking credit for undoing the terrible policy they enacted months ago.
