Wow, it makes me very sad this is even something that needed to be said in the first place. Is this common in the US? I wouldn't in a million years say such a thing or could imagine a scenario where anyone is saying that unless they are purposely being toxic. Is the bar lowered so much that basic empathy and manners are forgotten now?
I hope everyone here has a great rest of their day, and be sure to be kind to the next person you see. Whether it's just being nice to a cashier, coworker, anyone, just do it! You can change someone's day with even the most basic acts of kindness. You'd be surprised the difference it makes. I say this because I just met a couple of new friends just today by simply being nice to random people.
My theory is that being rude to people creates this endless cycle where they'll pass on that negativity to the next person as well so the cycle just continues. I've been struggling a lot lately, but it doesn't mean I have to make everyone else miserable too.
Edit: Oh shit sorry, I didn't see which community this was posted in and I just realized it was probably something Trump said lol
