The absinthe for lunch is why she can't go back to work

I had a coworker who quit on their first day before lunch.

[–] Mickey7@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Had the same thing. Had to train a guy on his first day. HR lied really bad to him regarding the job. He left before noon

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I did it a couple of times. Just went home and never went back, never called, blocked the number. I highly recommend it if you have the means.

Doing it must be such a great feeling of freedom

[–] Ghis@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Every single day.

I usually eat lunch at my desk and think about just leaving. The only problem is that there would be no impact because I only kind of have a set schedule so no one would question it or really care.

I once lasted about 2 hours in a new job that I didn't really want, but they hired me before any of the other better jobs I had applied to. My roommate called me just as we were about to start training, and said that the job I really wanted the most had called our apartment (olden days, pre-cell phones) and told him that I had the job, and to pass the news along to me. So I told my new boss that I was done, and walked out.
