My stance on it is, I want to see consequences. Given how unlikely it is that there will be any consequences, I struggle to care about the files. If they tell me the files will actually result in people being held accountable for their crimes, then I will be excited.

No one in US politics is talking about new anti corruption laws or a check on Presidential power, which just means they plan to do similar things.
Now that makes some sense
The Psyace Affect on youtube. Social Commentary. Exposing the truth in a world filled with fables and fallacies

Posting on Lemmy to promote a YouTube channel, but somehow doing so without any social media presence. Fucking pffft. I had completely forgotten r/im14andthisisverydeep. Praise the block button.
This is why I do care.
We don't know how many children were raped on that island. Dozens? Hundreds? More?
It's not about "getting Trump" or political theatre, it's about justice for the victims.
If nobody investigates the Epstein files, every single one of those child rapists WILL continue to rape children. Epstein is dead, but another will fill the void and become the next Epstein (if they haven't already).
I don't think raping children is a joke.
I don't think raping children is funny.
Some crimes go neglected and unsolved, and there isn't much most of us can do to correct that, but in this case we KNOW what the crimes are, we have evidence that could incriminate rapists, and if we don't demand an investigation into this we are collectively telling those children "We know you were raped, and we don't care."
Maybe I can convince you to care as well, maybe not, but either way, I refuse to be that person.
Best case scenario, we lock up everyone who committed those atrocities, but even if the rich and powerful find a way to prevent that, we are at least sending a message that crimes like this will NOT be ignored and that next time they may not be as lucky.
Well I hope the people involved actually do get punished but I don't think they will
I'm also prepared to accept that, but something's bound to turn it around eventually.
With this mindset, people are going to have to remember that the government works for the people and not the other way around. People don't need to keep asking for, as much as they need to enforce the release of the files.
