More people need to start acting petulant and childish with Trump. It's the only language he understands.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 48 points 1 week ago (9 children)

Trump is a narcissist. There is no language he "understands" other than ass-kissing and getting his way.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 week ago

Yeah but openly mocking him gets under his skin, and while he's rage posting about getting his feefees hurt that's less time for him to be doing anything else. It's like those guys who waste the time of scam callers.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Narcissists very much understand mocking. They're deeply insecure and it's basically the worst thing you can do to them.

Hahahahahahahahaha okay buddy

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 45 points 1 week ago

Anything left of Hitler is "radical left."

[–] III@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Give conservatives some time - I am sure Hitler will be a woke leftist to them if you waited long enough.

The cankles are low hanging fruit, but, we need to normalize more slap back.

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Man, with cankles that size they’ll be slapping against one another with each pedo-step he takes.

At this point I get way more "good cop/bad cop" than I perceived any actual resistance

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yea, its just "banter". Newsome could say he will run for president and have ICE (and those that enabled ICE) arrested as an executive order day one. He could say as president he would do a capital levy of 50% on every billionaire as an executive order.

Instead we get stupid insults.

[–] thagoat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 week ago

California should secede.

It would immediately bankrupt the US. All those mags loving red states are barely able to survive without money flowing in from blue states, and California is not only its largest economy, it's one of the largest economies in the world. California moves away and good luck for those red states getting money to feed their rich.

[–] Hufschmid@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

California can't secede without some kind of violent escalation, or a constitutional amendment to allow secession which won't happen. The high GDP is dependent on trade with the rest of the US, it's not isolated and sustainable on its own. California imports more of it's power than any other state, over 20% now (though this is going down).

California is the key to US western ports and access to the Pacific. The federal government and US military will absolutely never allow that to go away, which means secession is not possible without all out war. California loses a war with the rest of the US no question. California isn't exactly unified, and has more registered conservatives than the entire population of Kentucky. They have a strong liberal majority just about everywhere, but no shortage of conservative who aren't going to quietly allow a secession.

They doesn't exactly have a bright future when it comes to climate change and access to clean water, and they'll need support from the rest of the US as droughts, wildfires and unsustainable depletion of groundwater continues. You want to be on the team that has control of the great lakes region as climate change worsens.

I don't think you meant it that seriously, but it's fun to think through these things for me.

Let's all be friends and not spread civil war rhetoric (:

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Thanks for a more in-depth view!

I get the point but my argument is mostly about how all these red states can barely make enough money to feed their own people and depend on money coming in from blue states, but always bitch and moan about how California should be more like them.

They fully support the US government blocking money to California but they're happy to take it's money. The hypocrisy is just eye rolling.

Yayy everyone worship our new Neoliberal darling!

Watch as he is painted to be the only hope of a dying country despite being controlled opposition.

The DNC needs to die

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

"Democrats need to grow a spine and start openly criticizing Trump"

"No, not that one!"

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Always screaming, "Do something! I'm sitting here very unhappy!!!"

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

I just wish the Left put half the effort into politics and coalition-building that they put into ideological purity-testing.

It's embarrassing how much better the Right is at playing politics and it's a huge factor in why they are taking so much ground.

What?

They needed to keep the government shut down until they extracted something of value for the American people you fucking idiot.

It's not hard to understand how the dems folding like tissue paper when their voters told them NOT TO was a stupid move.

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 3 points 1 week ago

I think you replied to wrong comment.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

not disagreeing but I’d rather the gop dies first. I’m no newsome fan but it would make OUR jobs so much easier to fight against his neoliberal shit takes than these all out fascist ones.

The dems are awful, but Biden dropping out does at least show that with enough pressure, they will respond (or cave, I mean it’s in their nature). This administration only cares about themselves, they see the rest of us as their peasants.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't think one can exist without the other. They depend on each other to maintain power.

If there was a people's party that actually forced the rich to make concessions, there wouldn't be a contest.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I agree on all counts. I just think to get that party, we’ve got to get rid of the current ones. I’ve always been one to tackle the biggest challenge up front so my focus is still on the gop, but make no mistake, dems need to go too, at least the vast majority.

Thankfully there are folks working from the inside otherwise NYC would have turned out different. Honestly, their weakness means it’s an easier one to take back. I don’t care if the party names remain, but the power structure inside them needs to be gone yesterday.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I would love for the republicans to be gone so it would feel "safe" voting 3rd party, but i genuinely think the two parties keep each other alive so people hold out hope that one of them might one day do something good for people, but they are just taking up space where the real political parties would otherwise live.

This here is an example of good being the enemy of perfect.

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago (9 children)

No, it's an example of us having been on this ride before so we recognize the setup. It's going to be yet another round of "now isn't the time for progressives" even though anything else is just slower fascism.

A Newsom presidency would be better than Republicans, sure, but it's going to continue the slide into fascism just like every neoliberal power grab does. We don't need perfect, but a neoliberal doesn't count as good.

YOU MAD
bringing back crusty old memes

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Is there somewhere we can go that isn't invaded by sycophantic corpo-Dem bootlickers? I'm really tired of them acting like everything is fine as long as they vote D and demonize any opposing opinion.
