Can’t wait for Theremin Hero!

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

I scrolled down to post this, but you worded it more succinctly than I could. Bravo!

Oh man! Can I use it like the U-Force?

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 16 points 1 week ago

... I had one.

I played top gun with it. A lot.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 9 points 1 week ago

Broderbund made it‽ It must have been awesome!

I miss that company...

MSNlisted it as one of the top 10 worst game peripherals, writing "Second only to the Sega Activator in terms of all-out crappiness, the U-Force also used infrared sensors to create a truly nightmarish controller...'Don’t Touch' said the adverts for the device, in a rare example of an advertising campaign that got it spot on

If this is true, this is a really cool feature, and I would be curious to see how it could be utilized with Steam Input for most games.

That's the thing. Everyone seems positive about this but... what do you do with it?

[–] tiberius@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago

I'm also curious how developers use this feature. The Dreamcast VMUs were a cool idea but it never caught on.

I wonder if it could sense when you were about to pick it up and start the power on or wake up process

tl;dr for the part that matters to me: still not even a hint of a release date or even an announcement

edit: I'm aware the official announcement came out hours later

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

yeah the announcement was pretty soon after i wrote that

This comment surely aged nicely /s

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

this particular article hasn't been updated as of writing this, and I'm sure they also didnt expect immediate announcement after publishing it either. I wouldn't call less than 24 hours aged though. more like "oh, what impeccable timing"

My VR controllers can't even properly tell when I've set them down and they have touch sensors in them. I do not know why sometimes setting the controllwrs down, still has them being tracked with my hands until I go out of my way to show my empty palms to the tracking cameras.

If Valve makes this work well, I'll know 100% that it's the software that sucks for my situation.

[–] AceOnTrack@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I need a controller that can tell how hard I am mashing the buttons and games reacting appropriately.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

They have keyboards like that, but other than analog triggers I don't know of any controllers with that feature.

[–] monk@lemmy.unboiled.info 2 points 2 days ago

Sony Sixaxis. 256 degrees of being pressed on basically every button but two.

[–] rollerbang@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Force sensor, accelerometer, ... 🤣

[–] greyllama@fosstodon.org 5 points 1 week ago

@Fubarberry I'm waiting for one of these so hard! I want a better experience playing rim world with the deck docked to my tv. Xbox controller works but it's not fun to use. I have an original steam controller but I never found it a good fit. Something closer to the steam deck would be perfect!
