Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

I was not a fan of this last season. Did they lose a bunch of the writers,? What happened ?

seems s2 and 3 are pretty bad too. a singing episode, a patrick star ship, cmon, this isnt BKB.

Yeah there were some bad S2s too. I also did not like the singing.
I personally dislike musicals so I assumed I was biased. Maybe others liked it. ?

Only tv show a musical episode has ever worked in, imo, is Fx Legion. Cause it made sense to the premise.

The Vulcan episode in s3 was so cringe I kept waiting for some explanation but it never came.

Being Vulcan doesn't make you hostile and assertive Wtf?

Season 1 was pretty good from my memory. How far they have strayed.

Usually season 1 of any new branch is the roughest.

It's one of my favorite episodes. That along with the holodeck episode in season 3.

they probably tried to copy the voyager episode when robert picardo was singing, the thing is robert was an opera singer, so he sounded really good. yea i think snw s1 was good, only if they stop teasing with the romulans of each series. it was the same for picard, teased with s1 romulans than dropped, and teasted with GOOD borg alliance, than dropped.

wasnt the gorn mostly season 2, but they dint really do good in that area.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now that you mention the gorn. I have so many issues with the gorn.

Like why don't they raise cattle to be incubators?

Also. If they absolutely require a sentient alien host. How could they have evolved to be like that ?

Why would a species capable of interstellar travel spend all their time and resources hunting down other aliens for baby making. ? Making whole breeding planets. Whole damn planets.

Where they also let the potential incubators run around and put up a fight.

That's just the dumbest thing ever.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

thats wierd, so they made gorn into a parasitoid species, aka ALIENS. why not as simple as laying eggs, no need for convoluted backstory.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yep basically but also intelligent. They wear space suits. Build space ships.

[–] teft@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

robert was an opera singer, so he sounded really good.

Are you saying the singing was bad in Subspace Rhapsody because I thought most of them had great singing voices. The exception being M'Benga who you could tell was autotuned.

I would say Chapel crushed her song and Uhura's was really good, too. The rest were just average singers but that's a musical episode for you. At least they didn't change out the voice actors for different singers. That's always jarring when they do that.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I just generally don't like musicals as a rule. I think it stems from me not understanding musicals as a kid. I always thought it was so illogical that people would start dancing and signing in the middle of something serious. And I just thought it was so dumb and why didn't anyone else realize that no body behaves like that !?!

I don't know what age I was when I realized that it's a type of story telling.

Probably way older than I should have been. But to this day I still seem to resent musicals because "they don't make sense".

😅

I actually am slightly embarrassed to admit I was that dense as a kid/teen. But I was.
