Friendly place to discuss jigsaw puzzles and share pictures of jigsaw puzzles you have completed. Please do not keep posting the same jigsaw puzzle over and over again or puzzles other people completed. If you do a jigsaw puzzle a second time, you can post it again but wait about 30 days between posts and let everyone know you did it again.

Be sure to list the name (if known) jigsaw puzzle brand, piece count. If you want to remark on quality, artist or degree of difficulty it is ok too.

The only time I might downvote or remove a post or comment is if it is inappropriate. I fully understand and appreciate that not all of us have the same skill levels, financial or physical ability or the same amount of time to devote to doing jigsaw puzzles. Therefore I always upvote every puzzle posted, even if may not be one I truly like.

I don’t think I realize what level of difficulty I was signing up for when I bought this puzzle 😖

Lol, I used to be into jigsaws and friends eventually started giving me stuff like this. Like "the world's largest jigsaw/crossword", a massive jigsaw that was a massive crossword for you to solve when it was done. 3D jigsaws. Puzzles with no straight edges. A massive 10-footer of an art gallery with like a hundred different paintings in it.

Probably my worst times were when they discovered Schmuzzle puzzles - puzzles where every piece is shaped exactly the same. And the pictures they gave me were useful pictures, like a massive pile of M&Ms ...

Are they all slightly different? They look the exact same

They seem only slightly different so hopefully it doesn’t matter. So far there’s always been one that felt a biiiiit better

Go with the one that feels a biiiit better as the right fit should have no resistance at all.

There is a reason I don't enjoy puzzles and it is the fact that I can look at all of those pieces and notice the slight difference without being able to tell exactly which very similar pieces go together without trying each one. That includes ones that aren't solid colors, but the patterns are similar along the cut lines. Just hours of frustration.

Good luck, hope you enjoy it!

That's a sign of a good puzzle. When putting the pieces together all of them should feel a bit off except the correct one.

This was a four-puzzles-for-sixteen-dollars situation so I may have gotten what I paid for.

Also looking on the back side at how they fit can be of help. You can see the cut better and tiny mismatches are more noticeable

You got this! Can’t wait to see the post when you finish it.

It's easy to see that they are sufficiently different to find good matching pairs.

We are looking forward to the picture of the completed puzzle !

Reminds me of the dragon prince puzzle I bought, this was a common issue. The hardest puzzle was this hokusai one where you had to brute force test a hundred pieces all the same color and shape each placement.

Is this the "black bear asleep at midnight" puzzle?

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not all of it is this bad. It’s more of an “items on a black background” situation. But it’s the continuous black areas that are a problem. Especially when the shapes are so similar.

So, its not a 10 piece puzzle? It comes across like these are thd only pieces in the puzzle... but there are more pieces, right?

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Sorry if I misled folks. I just pulled aside these particular pieces because they were so similar.

This is what I’m working with:

Dude, there aren't even corner pieces or non-edge pieces. You don't do a lot of puzzles, eh?

I didn't understand what was going on honestly.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Try left column 4th down with right column 3rd down

Looks like the neon lion puzzle i bought from Aldi... I didn't finish it because of that
