Are you a Hu-man, or a Ro-Man?! Deduce, correlate! Eliminate Error! Is this not the law?

Is there a difference in pronunciation between Ro-Man and Roman? Because... well, that could be confusing in everyday conversations about them - I imagine it happens all the time...
