Essentially, it's a cultural equivalent to implying someone is old. The kind of "mad" like being called Sir/Miss(es) [Last Name] by someone after being introduced. Less anger and more annoyed at being reminded about the passage of time and that our backs hurt.
Yes, because unfortunately a lot of societies value youth and devalue elders. So it has become internalised as a self hatred to be older and not a good thing of having made it, which is amazing.
