Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online

I nearly dropped my phone you a-hole 🤪
Oh... this seizure of a site. Good thing I turned bluetooth off so I wouldn't throw my headphones at the wall.
Damn, Zombocom. I remember taking a Photoshop class in highschool, probably 2004 or so, and we were able to sync up all like 35 computers to play Zombocom at the same time. It was a really wonderful thing to hear, Zombocom in 70.0, crappy computer speaker quality.
The thing that people wouldn't get today is that zombocom was a spoof site of other stuff that was out there that was actually kind of like this. People - usually someone trying to ride the emerging .com wave - would barf up these incomplete early web sites with promises that absolutely would never be delivered.
It was truly a time where anything was possible.
I like the community !coolwebsites@lemmy.ca there's a ton there.
Neocities.org have some awesome sites as well.
I've actually used HTTP cats at work. You can call it inside your own error messages with https://http.cat/[status_code]
https://xn--bruzzelhtte-0hb.de/ Local Currywurst place has this legendary website
This is absolutely amazing! I do hope the absolute best for Jannine, she sounds wonderful. I've never been so invested in a restaurant employee on the other side of the planet.
I know hating ai is the style of the times, but I love watching them do things like this. Honestly, ai as a goofy little toy would be so much better.
Amazing!
I'm so disappointed that the official pens are unavailable, I need pens for my office.
This is great.
Q: Can I provide my own wood?
A: In most cases we can handle your wood.
If you live in Antarctica contact us for a special discount!
Your pen is Our business!
The idea of posting the URL to a stand alone meme gif instead of actually posting the gif feels like the highest tier of memeing.
Imagine my surprise and amusement to discover that https://www.realultimatepower.net/ is still online.
Shout out to how much I miss Stumble Upon from the earlier days of the internet.
I made it because I found the filesize limitation of catbox to be too small, and I want to host other stuff than pictures and videos too.
It requires a login to upload stuff, as I don't want to deal with the headache of accepting anonymous uploads, and I might make it into something "proper" one day.
EDIT: Catbox, not carbon. Ducking autocorrect.
https://bosshobbies.neocities.org/ I made a website to help score Beyblade X games, and turned it into a watchapp for the Pebble watchapp https://apps.rebble.io/en_US/application/68efa55f5bf09a0009eac172
My “silly little website” isn’t really that silly — it’s about exploring clean, alternative power like aluminum–air and saltwater systems. I’m genuinely interested in how such chemistry-based power could support resilience in remote or disaster-prone areas. That’s what I’ve been building at www.wehometool.com .

Once upon a time, there was a site called StumbleUpon which was a glorified search engine, except you basically only picked a category/topic and their service would redirect you to some random page on the net that was under the category.
The site went down eventually and they took off their extension. They eventually turned into Mix, but now you can actually still find StumbleUpon out there. They've closed off their actual capability for some reason.
The closest thing we have now maybe that doesn't exactly match but for giggles, is the useless web:
Not really a website with custom domain, but Anuken's Personal Website is kinda funny, even more so when you realize this cat is the developer of the famous open-source game Mindustry
Lemmy.
I don't know, I hear only absolute dinguses post things there...
