I don't pay for water in my apartment, nor do I pipes that make noise in the building.
I take long showers

I take long showers
this is written by a masc man. if I'm not washing my hair and just scrubbing, yeah I can get it done in 10-15 minutes. If I need to wash my hair though? easily 30 minutes. If I need to shave my legs/body? I'm probably drawing a bath and I'll see you in an hour at least.
Enjoying life. Enjoying the warmth, enjoying being clean, thinking, singing, relaxing, so on...
Years ago I had a roommate who took obscenely long showers. One time we were supposed to go food shopping but he wanted a "quick shower" before we went. I watched 2 episodes of narcos on Netflix, got frustrated, went shopping alone, drove to store, and did a week worth of grocery shopping, drove back, brought all groceries to the apartment (third floor), put everything away, waited another 30 minutes and he finally came out of the shower.
I have no idea what he did in there.
I plot my revenge on the people who slight me.
I literally scrub from head to toes.
What are YOU not doing? Ain't no way you're washing yourself good in less than 10 min. Get outta here.
Spacing out, probably
15' here but in my defense, long hair needs extra care.
Getting the temperature to just below the point where it's painful, and then cooking the 12 hour shift off of me
My brother in law washed each of his toes individually.
I'm just taking a breather, goddamn.
I'm just going to be straight up honest: I get too stoned sometimes and day dream about random things. It's not productive things either, usually something like why don't banana pineapples exist.
ENJOYING A RARE MOMENT OF FEELING GOOD.
I got a heat pump water heater damnit, let me enjoy the fruits of its efficient labor.
Takes a solid 5 minutes to get the grime off. I have psoriasis so i gotta be attentive. Then another 5-10 minutes of carefully emptying my brain of any thoughts (rotate every 180 seconds) and then the last 10 to just enjoy every cell accepting warmth.
Grooming and cleaning my beard+hair takes about 20 min. The rest takes 5-10 min.
"What are you, the coping mechanism police?"
Takes some time to wash the silt of the times, from my soul.
Also, the whole fast pace / no rest / ultra productive mindset has been around for eons, basically the rich don't believe the poors are entitled to any rest, relaxation or even just taking time with things, because that takes away from the money you're making them, so therefore you'll see that sentiment, seeded into culture, consistently, (I can't for the life of me think of the current buzz words this early in the morning, and sans coffee). There's always new buzzwords for it. Read any "I can do this faster than you" as them, the bourgeois, ordering you back to work.
If I'm feeling energetic and I really hurry and I don't need to wash my hair I can do 20.
Usually takes me 30+. And that's just the shower part.
I don't understand how a significantly faster shower is possible.
Personally it gives me peace from the constant everything. The drops pull my attention and it’s all over, so I can relax and just feel it all, not all all. Not sure if that makes sense. It just gives some peace and escape from life and all its noise.
But I’ve personally found that the warmth isn’t a thing for me, it works just as well when it’s very middling or even a bit cold. So in my shame I’ve long since switched from warm ones to those around the 25c ballpark, it’s given me even more peace ever since. Warming the water up is the most consuming part.
But then again I’m from a culture with saunas everywhere, in every house, so I don’t really need showers for the warmth anyway, the relaxing and muscle tension relieving I get from sauna. The overall stimulating peace and silence is what my showers are for. In addition to washing and grooming, of course.
Nothing bad can happen in the shower. It is the safest liminal space imaginable, and its pleasant to just be there. Im gonna linger for as long as i can
Disassociate
Relaxing. Nobody can bother you in the shower and it's a legit excuse to anyone. It's just so nice feeling that hot water
Ruminating
Like others have said, if there's no need to rush, there's no need to rush. And I've got long curly hair that needs to be washed, conditioned, detangled.
I hate getting into the shower, but once I get in, I'm comfortable, so it's hard to get back out. I still do it in less than 10, but I can see how people can get stuck in there. It's very relaxing.
Usually I just sit down. Let the water hit my head, and think. I process all of my thoughts in a soothing environment where I can sort them out and solve problems I've been struggling with.
I call it my "liquid blanket"
Oily skin and hair that takes actual scrubbing to take care of and a genuine enjoyment of a bit of scalding on the skin.
