Rates vary by utility but generally offer lower distribution charges in colder months, encouraging broader heat pump adoption.

Each utility’s program is unique—contact your utility directly for details and enrollment links.

Eversource has more info and an online form to upload a photo of your heat pump's sticker.

MassSave may have automatically enrolled you but does not seem to have done so for many.

Tangentially related: if you have an EV and charge at home then National Grid now has a program to credit you when you charge during off-peak hours. It’s a bit convoluted and only works with certain WiFi enabled EV chargers, but its saved us around $10 a month since we signed up.

Cool! Eversource too, also only a couple chargers and not ours. Though ours has a "PV divert" feature, which tries to only use excess production (if you hook up an MQTT topic with that info), and that saves on transmission charges at least.

I just got my letter from Eversource today that I am automatically enrolled. Overall decrease of 23% in my rate. Super pleased with the decision to get a heat pump through MassSave after buying my house.

Oh look at that, just got notice of automatic enrollment in today's mail as well. Nice!
