. . . Its a song about having no feelings because you’re a boy.

This is like being mad that Rage against the machine is political, you’ve wholly misunderstood the song.

You do not have to understand/know/think about music lyrics at all to love a song. The same way that people go about their lives and never notice or think about how a car actually works or how.... etc. you get the point. This is not a "gotcha".

When I was a small child I realized that I couldn't pick out the lyrics in songs the way my peers did. 50-years later, never got better. Lyrics often pass me by entirely.

Sometimes I suddenly notice what is being "said" in some part of a song after 20 years of listening to it. It does not make the song better, usually even worse.

Yeah, me too... but it sure is fun reading the lyrics of songs I loved back in the day and realising there's a lot more to them than I assumed back then.

As a general rule (assuming they're not e.g. autistic in the "difficulty processing speech" kind of way), native english speakers are expected to at least notice the lyrics of an english-language song they like. Honestly haven't listened to a lot of NIN music, but IIRC they vocals are usually fairly clear and if they're often the way OP is quoting, you definitely look like an idiot if you're completely ideologically opposed to a band like that and still say that you're a fan.

Someone eating a big ice cream or hotdog?

You're so close on the latter guess.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 3 points 4 weeks ago

I think not - look they have ice cream all over their face

That's the fun thing about art. It could be one, the other, neither or both!

it's not at all surprising, the industrial fan base had or has a large amount of neo nazis, but to be fair there were more anti fascist

Quit FB over 10-years ago because so many of my GenX friends went MAGA. Y'all, we were punk rockers.

Incredibly disheartening to see the poll numbers on our generation lately :( Thought we were better, we fought for a lot of those rights and hated all the Reaganite bullshit and now here we are with literally the SAME FUCKIN GUY, only this one is even more deranged.

Reagan was at least respected as an actor. Trump was a known serial fraudster, reality tv star and cameo actor in a beloved comedy movie.
