MODERATORS

Today, the US government has created accounts for multiple departments in a coordinated effort to manipulate the discourse on Bsky. Most of the engagement these accounts get is from freshly created accounts in the last 24 hours and some MAGA trolls.

Here are lists of the departments. You can use these to easily block or mute all of them. Starve them of the attention that they are seeking

And a list I created with all the people liking their shit, mostly fresh bots and trolls (the script is still WIP if anyone is interested):

How about getting off another corporate owned platform that is already enshittifying.

Mastodon is going to still be just as nice as it is now if not better once Bsky craps out entirely like Reddit

Are there actually people on Mastodon besides Linux evangelists?

[–] Little8Lost@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Like a year ago i made some polls on masto that came out pretty 50/50 but with MS doing MS stuff the total amount of linux users is rising.
But it could be that from the recent BSky drama and other factors more WIN people are joining which could even it out again

i use arch-based btw :p

I use both. Bsky has way more people and the feed is better.

I love the fediverse (it's why I'm here, right?), but people need to realise that good social networks need people to interact and, you know, be social.

The most private, publicly owned and anti-corporate network is still going to be useless if hardly anyone uses it. Bluesky isn't perfect but it's good enough for now and so far most folks on there have no time or patience for the right, with plenty of tools to easily identify and block them. That'll do for me.

I started to try out wafrn which can do booth andi liked it more than masto.
Sadly choosing the gender on signup does absolutely nothing (as they are hilarious on their own)

I noticed that. I'm not a huge fan of bluesky but use it to not get too out of mainstream... but I'm curious and a little worried to see how they moderate it. They've already spewed lies and racism, so they're pretty much already violating the rules on that platform.

Just like with Twitter, moderators probably won't take serious action until something violent happens like it did on January 6th

BlueSky has handy user level moderation tools, with block/mute lists that you can subscribe to. There are also the default moderation settings that anre enabled for users to cut down on the amount of misinformation you are exposed to.

The best way to deal with misinformation is to starve it of views via subscribing to block/mute lists and keeping those default moderation tools on.

The American Ri Chun-Hee looks a bit starved in comparison (the original was probably one of the few who got enough food in NK). But the overall notion fits perfectly.

I ran into MAGA nutter for a while there in the summer. He kept changing his user name, but it was blatantly obvious it was the same person. He eventually got booted off the platform for good after the moderators yeeted enough of his sock puppets.

It's inevitable that a few will creep in, I suppose. Just keep flagging them.
