Wait… what kind of warning!? What are the risks? I’m to afraid to check myself now lol
Warning: If you deselect Undetermined, you will not see most content.
For some reason Lemmy doesn't select a default language when you post or comment, so most is simply "undetermined".
Just checked that out, and it's something indeed I recall trying long ago. But it keeps on reselecting "Undetermined" for some reason whenever I save
I've been really aggressively blocking communities that have stuff I don't want to see. It's been a huge help
That helps, but sometimes the community is more general and the content I don't want shows up anyway. E.g. I've created an account soon as I saw US News & Politics show up, seeing the opportunity to block it. Yet the more general World News frequently has US-specific stuff (fair, I guess, seeing as the US is part of the world, despite them labelling anything not them as "World", e.g. "World Music"). Or US news and politics showing up in Lemmy Shitposts. I enjoy some shitposting. But why???? Can't get a break. At least filtering out English would free me from so much US
Just switch accounts with me. I get like 90 percent posts in German and I have know idea why.
I’m also a pretty fast skim reader so I’ll be halfway through the article before my brain alerts me it’s in a language I don’t understand. It’s very frustrating .
