"hours before the European group will decide the award recipient"

They think they make the decision same day as the announcement... LOL.

The winner has already been picked.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/dampening-trumps-chances-nobel-institute-says-peace-committee-finalized-its-pick-on-monday/

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which awards the prestigious peace prize, held its final meeting on Monday, the Nobel Institute said Thursday, a day ahead of the announcement of the 2025 laureate.

This means a decision was made about the laureate or laureates before the conclusion of an agreement between Israel and Hamas,"

Y’all got any more of them Nobel Peace Prizes?

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (5 children)

Just make a Nöbel Prize, throw a big fake ceremony and give him one, making sure it's bigger than the Nobel medal yet also make it of yellow shiny plastic.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

....then give a bigger one to Obama

"Nö" is a very childish "nope" in German (maybe even also in Swedish I don't know) so a Nö-bel Prize would be very fiting

Everyone has free speech ... as long as they say what he wants to hear

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think they should give a NPP to Little Marco, or Steve Witkoff (ewww..), just on the chance that maybe Donny 2 Weeks will stroke out in rage.... Or another to Obama, LOL.

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

another to Obama

Donny still not got over that joke at the white house dinner. It would be hilarious to give Obama an award for services to immigration or golf.

If they award the obese orange lard souffle a Nobel Peace Prize, then that will just be another achievement that's become meaningless. It would be like giving Hitler a Peace Prize for not invading Poland a bit earlier. And Donny 2 Inches body count is in the same magnitude as Adolfs, and still growing. Associating Hitlerpig with anything prestigous will demean and pervert it. EVERYTHING Donny 2 Dolls touches or is associated with, DIES !

Donny 2 Inches

Donny 2 Dolls

What are you even talking about at this point? lol

So pathetic that this headline feels like some kind of win.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can we make an Ignoble Peace Prize and give that to him instead?

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago

The Ig Nobels already have an occasional peace prize (the exact list of prizes changes year to year) but they're far too cool for Trump to get one.

The 2025 peace prize went to "Fritz Renner, Inge Kersbergen, Matt Field, and Jessica Werthmann, for showing that drinking alcohol sometimes improves a person's ability to speak in a foreign language"
