I generally browse by "Hot" or "top x hours". I like seeing newer posts that rise and that's what makes me happy. The problem is that there are some rare posts that show a distracting animation in the thumbnail as I browse and it is never something I want to see but it distracts from my browsing. (I use compact thumbnails as my preference).

I there a way to disable playing animations in the thumbnail image?

That still doesn't quiet the thumbnail animations and adds an extra click when I want to see it.

Would it work for you to disable autoplay?

It's at:

That doesn't work for the thumbnail animations apparently.
