I love how its advertising 5+1 as if its a bonus. A 6 pack is not a new packaging technique and its easier to pack and ship an even numbers of cans. I'd even argue its almost false advertising but i guess the 6 pack is the price of 5 cans? But again, bulk pricing is not a new concept and would be somewhat expected.

It gets even worse. They were on Sale too. So I paid like for ~4 cans.

Which makes this whole 5+1 even more ridiculous.

I know it's not in english but I love how they refer to bean cans as "Doses" hahahaa

Have you taken you shot of beens today? lol

but i guess the 6 pack is the price of 5 cans?

That's a standard method for hiding a price increase. You start with a pack of 6 priced at $5.99. You then run a "5+1" campaign advertising this special deal at just $5.49. Great value! Finally, you end the campaign and set the new price at $5.49 × (6/5) = $6.59. Doing it this way reduces profit for the duration of the campaign, but customers won't be as angry as with a straight increase, because the actual increase in this method is the $5.49 for the 5+1, which doesn't "feel" like an increase.

The "beanz" name makes it sound like it's an artificial mockery of the real thing, like chicken "wyngz".

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

They are vegan 100% plant based bean product.

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I bought the sugar free ones on accident. Didn't even know those existed. And they shouldn't.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago

That's horrible.

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

you have never had mexican food with beans? african food with beans? latin american food woth beans? middle eastern food with beans? cajun food with beans? all the best beans in this world and you choose the ones jacked up with sugar probably to keep you addicted to sweets?

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My sibling in Christ — half of these, and others. Sometimes you want English breakfast beans. You buy Heinz and they're sweet, but okay. You grab the sugar-free ones by accident and they're artificially sweetened and a crime.

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

thought you didn't know beans without sugar didn't exist with the wording 👀 was just informing you there are plenty of ways to eat beans without sugar and still enjoy beans :)

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

None of those are baked beans though.

[–] pseudo@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wait? Why would you have sugar in beans?

In France we have sugar in green pea. I usually look for a brand without it. I don't see why someone would buy sweened legume if not to cook some asian sweet.

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Ask Heinz – there's sugar in the tomato sauce.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because sometimes you put sugar in savoury stuff? Have you never had barbeque sauce before?

[–] pseudo@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I get that but what is the issue with not having sugar in your beans? That a plus in my book.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Theres no issue with sugarless beans, but baked beans is a recipe with beans and sugar. If you take the sugar out its not the same recipe.

[–] pseudo@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 year ago

Oh I see. I thought baked bean meant a bean that is already cooked. I didn't knew it is was a specific recipe.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 5 points 1 year ago

Deserves a toast!

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 5 points 1 year ago

I need my gratis dose of Heinz Beanz! (In a rich tomato suace (High Protein))

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 4 points 1 year ago

I eat them from time to time but I don't really like the taste. The sauce is super sweet like ketchup but without the tang. It's very boring and bland and no matter what spices I add it somehow doesn't get better. Really weird.

[–] pseudo@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 year ago

Nice. Can I join?

[–] ileftreddit@piefed.social 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Essential part of an English breakfast; “baked beans” like the ones the US typically have on shelves don’t work

Eggs bacon beans mushroom tomato sausage fried bread black pudding white pudding ….. am I missing anything?

HP sauce, of course!
