Oh my goodness - how long have I been waiting for this. Progressive thrash legends Coroner are back with a new song. The first since 1993.

I hope they will release a proper album.

I saw them live on their last tour with Poltergeist. There were about 20 people and the stage was 10 cm high. IMO one of the most underrated metal bands of all time.

Listen to their album “Grin” and tell me otherwise.

Enjoy

Ah damn I saw the one posted in the metal community first this morning lol. I wish old Coroner was back. It's not bad but the magic is gone.

Let’s hope they can make a comeback as strong as Exhorder did.

Well… 32 years is a damned long time. I think the part at 3:10 is typical Thommy Vetterli. The rest is really different to the legacy material. Let’s see when there are more songs to hear. I am pumped anyway, LOL

Yea the solo bits were definitely above average, but i'm keeping my expectations tempered lol.

Their new album will be released at 17th October 2025 (at least is what it says on Qobuz https://open.qobuz.com/album/ruz5uh3lgfl5a).

I could attend a concert of them this year in a small country after ~20 year of just listening their music. It's amazing that they could put their efforts to make new music.

Just pre-ordered the vinyl.

It definitely sounds more modern and a bit more run of the mill than their usual stuff. I'm still dead excited to hear the rest though. My expectations haven't been shattered, although they haven't dropped completely either.

I got the vinyl today. It’s a fuckin masterpiece. Something that dwells between Meshuggah and Pink Floyd. Definitely not thrash metal anymore. Very grown up.

Good to hear they still know how to release bangers, shame to hear they departed from being the top tech thrash band. Still yet to give it a listen... I will have to hear it for myself.
