What do you carry on a daily basis?
Initially, I almost bought it but at the end of the video with Adam Savage, he teased a concept of the Smith Blade XL featuring pliers and scissors and I thought I would wait.
What's funny is that a month ago, I was about to buy the open source and modular Roxon Flex multitool but didn't have money at the time. I'm glad I didn't make an impulse decision.
The roxon is open source?
They claim it's open source. As you can make new implements and slot it in the tool.
Interesting. I looked around and saw some folks describing it that way but couldn't find the company itself ever calling it open source

Their amazon listing, knife center listing, and some forums mention it as open source. A few of the videos I watch mention it as open source as well, but it's odd they don't list that on their actual website
It took me a while to find the listing that includes open source, only the flex has it as best I've seen. Weird. Cool tool regardless though.

I also watched the presentation with Adam Savage and you could see the creator was very nerdy about his product and every single feature. I loved it. But unfortunately this kind of knife is not allowed in my country so I can’t carry it around with me, making the whole thing useless.
Depends on the laws of your country, in the kickstarter they do offer a lock-less configuration and less than 3 inches blade length.
But yeah I get you. My country even outlaws the victorinox Classic SD technically and anything bigger than that "without valid reason". Self defense is not a "valid reason", nor does "just in case".
Oh I didn't see that. I'm in Germany, we do not allow single handed opening, locked blades and certain blade lengths. They have an option for exactly that. Good to know, thanks!
Still not sure if I will buy one since there will be a hefty shipping rates and import duties and whatnot. I very rarely buy anything outside the EU because of that.

I don't think I'd buy another hacksmith product, I bought the torch they built and it looks really neat, but barely even produces a flame after only being used a small handful of times. Unfortunately with my previous experience and the price I wouldn't even consider this tbh.

Idk I was excited and it looks awesome. But I'd have no where to easily put it and it's not cheap either. Don't think I have that much use for it either. I'll pass but the engineer in me loves it.
You put it in your pocket
My pocket is full with my phone or keys. It'd make my pocket even bulkier and that's not worth it for the time I need it once in a blue moon.
Switch the phone to your left pocket. If you have room for a pocket knife in your right pocket then I think you can squeeze this in
It's definitely interesting. The stand out things I noticed are they promise to offer "upgrade paths" to make the made in China lite version to become the pro version.
If they can fulfill that promise, I think if you're not ready with dropping the dough for the pro version now but want to support them still, that makes it a good deal still. Though the functions in the lite version is kind of gimmicky without the bit driver tbqh.
