Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Three weeks ago, White House officials were battling a frenzy from President Donald Trump’s supporters over the Jeffrey Epstein case. But the flurry of criticisms from within the Make America Great Again movement have quieted, and Trump officials say they are plotting steps to try to shape the public narrative to their advantage.

The president’s advisers are not under any impression that the storm has entirely passed: The most recent polling shows the public largely disapproving of Trump’s handling of the Epstein case.

So about those Epstein files?

“MAGA claims” — is there an official MAGA spokesperson now?

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 83 points 7 months ago

Yes, it's Pam Bondi. She thinks it's all good now.

Their office is across the street from antifa's.

Imagine working at the local precinct, always having to answer the call for the worst neighbor disputes.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

On the plus side, pepper spraying those shitheads would be a dream.

[–] EtnaAtsume@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago

John MAGA said so himself.

Bezos probably has a guy on this

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 5 points 7 months ago

I mean if Antifa did I dont see why not?

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

In retrospective, I should have said "White House." My bad. Just these people are knowing for repeating the same bullshit over and over that I just went with "MAGA".

[–] killea@lemmy.world 61 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You have to DECLARE it. Idiots.

[–] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

And sign it in red ink at a 45° angle.

[–] mokus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Should I use my name or the name of my person?

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 45 points 7 months ago

WaPo article from junior reporter brought on long after Bezos took over and began putting his thumb on the scale.

Article is trying to will this narrative into reality by pretending it's already happening.

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 24 points 7 months ago

If the storm calmed without the list, then it’s acceptance.

Not just by MAGA.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 7 months ago

The average MAGA has a memory which goes back about 8 days, so I wouldn't be surprised if the recent distractions have worked well among the base.

I feel like headlines from both sides of the political spectrum are specifically designed to make us hate each other. Based on this headline, and the fact that the majority of people will not read the article, people will assume that their republican neighbors don't care anymore. In reality this is one of the biggest bipartisan agreements among everyday people that I have ever seen in my life.

If you hang out online in liberal communities they will say republicans support pedos like Trump. If you hang out online in conservative communities they will say democrats support pedos like Bill Clinton. But what both sides are actually saying is they don't give a fuck who is on the list and everyone that was involved should be punished (Yes, even Trump supporters).

This is what class warfare looks like. When you are constantly being told that the "others" hate everything you stand for even when everyone actually agrees on something. If the title of an article pisses you off immediately it was probably specifically chosen to do so. And if that's the case, read the article.

Narrator: Two pals met up at a party…

Trump: You know what I love?

Epstein: Boning children?

Trump: It's great to have a pal!

Epstein: We'll be pals forever!

Trump: Enigma, secret, ageless, whatever the hell.

Epstein: Yeah, buddy…

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

How'd you get your hands on the first draft? Hope you wore gloves and decontaminated after.

[–] liverbe@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago

No it has not. Release the files!

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 13 points 7 months ago

Oh ok then, I guess we can just sweep it under this rather lumpy rug

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago

Cool, if the storm is over, then they can release the unredacted Epstein files now, right? They should have no problem doing that.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 11 points 7 months ago

Translation: the storm has not calmed.

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 9 points 7 months ago

So what happened to all those Qanon hypocrites? The pizzagaters? It was all bullshit fueled by thousands of troll accounts you say? Wow never would have thought.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

...until the next drip drip drip story comes out, LOL.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 7 months ago

When you can convince your followers a literal storm isn't going to hit where it definitely is going to hit with a swipe of a sharpie marker, you can handle metaphorical storms pretty easily as well. It's just like a cult except instead of charisma, the leader captivates with relatable stupidity and open hatred.
