Democrats had the opportunity to pass voter protections.
They considered the filibuster to be more important.
They have filibustered none of trump's agenda.
Welcome to the News community!

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Democrats had the opportunity to pass voter protections.
They considered the filibuster to be more important.
They have filibustered none of trump's agenda.
Can't filibuster executive orders.
And has all of trump's agenda been executive orders? The continuing resolution schumer caved on? The vote to thank ICE?
So we agree they should've done away with the filibuster?
Yes, but that would have affected virtually nothing Trump has done since gaining office again.
Mostly yes, but the point is that the filibuster is/was their excuse for not doing shit to help the people when they could. DNC party hacks like to say "but they didn't have a filibuster-proof majority!!!" when people point out that the DNC has done exactly zilch to remedy America's long-term problems, so it's important to remember that keeping the filibuster was a choice by the DNC made for that purpose.
The last time the Dems had a filibuster proof trifecta, it was for about 2 months and they passed Obamacare. The Repubs spent the next decade trying to break it. The Democrats have a lot of issues, but they are NOT the major problem here.
Yes, they passed Obamacare, a Republican policy thought up by Heritage Foundation. Also note that they only passed the ACA when they should've damn near rebuilt the country from scratch. If this is the kind of policy Americans can expect when the Democrats have a trifecta and a massive grassroots movement, then you're basically making my point for me, but that's beside the point. The bigger problem is that they kept the filibuster and keep keeping the filibuster when they could've abolished it twice. Keeping the filibuster is a choice, so the whole talk about a filibuster-proof majority is nothing more than "sorry I shot myself in the foot so I can't come help you even though it's literally my job, now give me more money".
IIRC, the Democrats used the filibuster more during Trump's first term than the Republicans did during Obama's second term. It is a highly flawed tool, but it does have its uses. Yeah, we are going to be able to pass more things we want, but so will the opposition.
I think we should get rid of the filibuster because it has allowed the Executive to take more power. That doesn't mean it will be entirely positive. It might even be a net negative. Remember that we got rid of the filibuster for supreme court appointments and that is what allowed the Republicans to take a supermajority there.
Even when Dems have had a majority in both houses and the presidency they only ever pass laws that enrich themselves & their donors. Much the same as the rest of the world in 2025.
Ordinary people need to start arming themselves and dragging the rich & their puppets from their comfy homes before we get any meaningful improvement in our societies. Their life of luxury should only be possible when all our needs are taken care of first.
This sort of thing is how Trump stole the last election.
Literally, like we’ve already played this game. This is the standard now: republicans will disenfranchise until they win every election.
It was corrupted machines and non voters that got him there.
Imma vote, I don't care how deflating the news is.
Keep calling, writing, and live well, we can do this together. The needs of the many outweigh the greed of the few, and they're afraid of us keeping that in mind!
Well, let's just sit it out again, then. Worked so well the last time.
/s for the easily triggered assholes
Looking forward to another super effective "Strongly worded letter" from the Democrats.

EDIT: Forgot my end sarcasm tag.
Those midterms are going to be a shitshow.
