Sean Murray traditionally teases No Man's Sky news with a single emoji tweet, but he's also used the "world" emoji in posts about Light No Fire's open world.

Keep your eyes open for potential news in the next few days!

#FuckSeanMurray

His company shouldn't have survived from his explicit and direct false advertising and constant, blatant lies to the community in the weeks leading up to the release of the game. He's a scammer and a conman.

Ehh, I'd agree if the game never progressed past its launch state. But they've since more than lived up to the initial promises of the game. And everything since launch has been added for free. So I'm willing to support them again under the assumption that they will support this new title in the same way they did for No Man's Sky. Maybe don't pre-order though haha.

But they've since more than lived up to the initial promises of the game.

Disagree, based on what I've seen. They've barely gotten close to what was originally claimed. And even if they had, that doesn't excuse the lies and false advertising that Sean spent all of his time on before release.

Nah I went back and played it again after people claimed it was good now, and while it was better it's still not a good game and not what was originally promised.

You're awfully upset about a game that they have spent 8 years trying to make good on.

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh, nice - 8 years later and only some of what they claimed was in the game at launch are still lies!

That’s blatantly untrue and it’s obvious you have no first person experience with the game that exists now. You’re either being intentionally ignorant or just shit posting for imaginary internet points.

So you're telling me that you can destroy space stations and land on asteroids? Did you ever get unique ships? How about cloaking devices?

[–] Epicmulch@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You can land on destroyed space stations. Destroy huge freighters. Can't land on asteroids as far as I know. But you also can get unique ships you can even build your own now. And I'm pretty sure there are cloaking devices in the game now.

Sooo they have 2 to 4 of what the guy mentioned. Seems like saying "doesn't have the features promised on launch" is still valid.

[–] ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The guy cherry picked 4 features out of hundreds that were promised and have been delivered on. Who gives a shit about landing on asteroids when there are literally countless planets and some of them are basically just barren rocks. Destroying space stations doesn't really fit into this gameplay loop and wouldn't really make sense given the upper end of the power curve in NMS.

Listen, I don't love the game. I played probably 20-30 hours back in 2020 and have reinstalled it briefly a couple times since. It wasn't really my favorite style of game, but it's perfectly enjoyable.

To be this upset about some fairly innocuous broken promises speaks volumes about this person's mental health. ESPECIALLY since we're talking about a game. These are the kind of people that send devs death threats.

Who cares about asteroids? The people who were promised it. Said it is already in the game.

You call it innocuous promises I call it screwing over players and expecting people to be okay with it.

[–] ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I'm not sure how being unable to land on a small barren rock is "screwing over players", but ok.

You clearly haven't played the game. That's funny.....

Spoiler alert: whiny little butthurt babies like you are in the minority. You are the tiniest, most insignificant speck compared to us and it shows . Have fun with your tiny baby temper. You sound like one of those dipshits that are so angry they send death threats over a videogame (pathetic infantile stupidity). We will be praising Sean :)

All I'm reading is "waaah waaah somebody doesn't like the game I like waaah".

Learn to actually counter arguments instead of throwing 15 ad hominems thinking one will stick.

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

Nah, you're just being a butthurt baby that people like the game lmao keep telling yourself that. Have a nice day!

"Landing on asteroids" would be incredibly pointless and stupid.
