Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Is this unusual, or does it often move around the country? The article doesn't say.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 24 points 10 months ago

Yeah... I mean if this is a normal thing, then don't sensationalize it, but if this is not normal we need to know

Trump preparing for WWIII.

[–] Infinite@lemmy.zip 8 points 10 months ago

He won't accept third. Trump War One, the best one.

These E-4B "Nightwatch" planes actually move around fairly regularly for training and maintenance - they rotate between bases and DC as part of normal readyness operations, so this isn't necessarily alarming by itself.

There's another article stating that he does actually want to drop a nuke.

If you read the article, they're heavily reading into what was actually said by the correspondent. They said nothing is off the table but conventional bunker busters should be enough to destroy the nuclear facility in Iran.

I haven't looked I to the Air Force E-4B, but the Navy's E-6B has been spotted all over the US. Both are doomsday 747s. There's multiples of both. I don't know if it's actually been spotted on the ground much, though, as opposed to very high flyovers. But it sure feels a lot like the start of Escape from NY

Like I know he’s an absolute drooling psychopath, and many of his followers are cultists, but, like, the women and men protecting him have families. I hope they understand what dropping nukes would mean

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Starting to think I should dump my stocks again

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Naw, just move them into publicly traded military contractors not named Boeing. You'll be making money like its crypto and you're on the inside.

[–] Paddzr@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I have a feeling Boeing will be just fine... Those apaches won't maintain themselves...

[–] WaxiestSteam69@lemm.ee 8 points 10 months ago

Unfortunately I think we are along for the ride at this point.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So after there's a nuclear doomsday, y'all still want your president around 🤣 That's so adorable.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 33 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Most people around here seem to hate him. I don't know who you are talking to.

[–] Lon3star@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Roughly 40-45% of the voting population

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Like .000000001% are represented in Lemmy

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

The democratic US as a whole. I'm aware many people on Lemmy are not a part of it.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And are doing nothing to stop him

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Which has nothing to do with the context of what we were talking about

[–] limer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 10 months ago

As an American who could have done more to help stop this, I think all adult Americans, including me, share some collective guilt.

There is so much more everyone could have done the last few years to head this off.

There are always excuses, I have a long list myself.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 10 months ago

Fuck that. If he starts a nuclear war, he should be first in line to vaporize.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 10 months ago

First Putin, then Kimmy. But they can use tiny ones, not city murdering ones.
