So me and my niece are part of an outgroup that is currently being targeted by the hard right, and my sister and I both legitimately fear for the safety of our family.

With the news Biden is dropping out, we are leaving the country.

To be clear: I LIKE Harris, I will be voting for Harris and whoever else is on the blue side of the ballot. But after that we are all getting on a plane because I think regardless of who wins this election, this country will go full concentration-camp fascist within 4 years.

The apathy that I see in my fellow citizens about all of the horrific things surrounding that fucking orange abomination tells me this country WANTS fascism and this time the GOP picked a narcissistic idiot, then next time they won't make that mistake.

So we're packing most of our stuff and shipping it off tomorrow to relatives, voting early, and staying in a sane country for at least a few years.

I hate that I have to do this, I hate that it is even a conceivable issue but some trumpfucker at a protest broke my nieces hand because of who she is and I don't think it's safe to be in a place where that becomes normalized.

Republicunts already used scraped profile data curated by AI to directly target people to form local protest groups, and I know for a fucking fact that once there are no brakes they will use our now infinitely better AI to target me and my niece.

We both have unfortunately glaring online presences that we never expected to have to worry about but with the last 4 years of AI and the targeting of human rights, I am making every effort to make sure there is almost no digital signature of where we are going to end up.
