With the world the way it is, it can be hard (at least for me) to see much of a future. So, for something positive for a change, what's happening in your personal life, what are you getting, or what ever else is meaningful right now - what's going on that you're looking forward to?

Short term: new shoes! I ordered them online, they should arrive any day now. Looking forward to having something nice to wear in the summer.

Mid term: forging our wedding rings! We have a workshop coming up in a couple weeks where we'll be forging our very own rings under supervision of a professional jeweler. Jewelry is a very lovely thing on it's own, even more so when I'll be creating them from scratch together with my partner - the love of my life.

Long term: our wedding next year! There's still so much preparation to be done and so much money to save up until then, as well as the honeymoon right after that. It's all very exciting!!

The next Lemmy release so I can finally continue with my Lemmy bot.

Donald Trump's death. Really gonna enjoy that whenever it comes

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 2 points 9 hours ago

And Putin and Bibi, basically all power hungry war mongering old fucks

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

This! I’m not a drinker but the day Donny dies I’m gonna get fucking trashed and celebrate.

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

I was just thinking of that. I imagined the US military actually serves it's purpose to defend the constitution, attempts to arrest trump, he resists and then he dies.

Is just wishful thinking tho...

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

we gotta make sure Vance dies first

[–] RedditIsDeddit@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

I'm not concerned about Vance as much as I am Trump. We'll worry about Vance next.

A number of artists I like have had/will have shows here around Seattle this year, and I decided to combat the inertia by splurging and buying tickets to most of them. I always did love live shows (but damn, have they gotten more expensive). I'm

I've already seen Eddie/Suzy Izzard, who was as delightful as always. Soon will be seeing Pixies, The Offspring, Josh Johnson, Demetri Martin.... I think I'm forgetting somebody.

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

The Pixies are touring? What year is this?

[–] MrsDoyle@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago

After ten years keeping bees as part of a charity project, next year I'm leaving that and getting my very own bees. I'm very excited at the prospect!

Also, at the end of this year I'm going on a trip abroad for the first time since 2019. I'm quite apprehensive but still looking forward to it.

[–] cattywampas@lemm.ee 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Going to the UK in October, looking forward to it!

[–] wingsfortheirsmiles@feddit.uk 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A future wave and welcome, bring your brolly! Whereabouts will you be visiting?

[–] cattywampas@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

London, Salisbury/Stonehenge, and Liverpool. 10 days total. I've always been a bit of an Anglophile, a big history nerd, and a huge Beatles fan. I can't wait!

[–] TheWeirdestCunt@lemmy.today 2 points 21 hours ago

Liverpool? My condolences, at least it's not Birkenhead on the other side of the mersey.

Awesome, still never made it to Stonehenge yet. You'll have a blase! Annoyingly, I'm London for a few gigs next weekend or Saturday for the Solstice would be ideal

[–] wingsfortheirsmiles@feddit.uk 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Music is central to my life, so upcoming releases, gigs, clubnights and festivals are my escapism drugs. That and uh, the actual drugs

Going to the wedding of some close friends too in July, they're great people so I'm sure it'll be a blast!

Finally, slowly but surely making progress on my house which I bought three years(!) ago, both in terms of much needed maintenance and filling out with furniture. Still lots to be done!

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Exciting! Enjoy the ride, my friend!

[–] Plesiohedron@lemmy.cafe 7 points 23 hours ago

Building a fence. It's really going to improve my life.

It'll be fun to build. Look good. Contain my dog. Keep deer away from some stuff. Be a trellis for climbing flowers.

I've built a lot of fences.

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Figuring out why I'm sick! I saw a new doctor today. The staff was nice. Every single time I step foot in the office, my blood will be stolen. Exciting!

[–] MrsDoyle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Good luck! I hope the docs come up with solutions as well as a diagnosis, and you recover.

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully! Today was just intake. They took all my blood. Okay, a lot of blood.

[–] ieatmeat@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

That's how vampire mafia works

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

See, that's what some other people told me as well! I'm fine if the vampires want my possibly tainted blood, just as long as they send some of it to testing to find out what's wrong!

[–] Monster96@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I'm working on a freelancing project for a company that's going to be paying me over $5k for the work I've done. I don't know what I'm going to be using the money for but it'll be nice to not have to worry about money for a while.

[–] FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 day ago

My Rollerblades should be here Wednesday! Last I had a pair I was probably 17, but I started playing Bomb Rush Cyberpunk (spiritual successor to Jet Grind Radio) and was instantly hit with the urge to get back out there.

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Moving far away from the place I have lived almost my entire life. Like you said, it's hard to see much of a future - there isn't one here for me. It's unaffordable, I hate most of the neighbours, and I'm paying rent at twice the cost of a mortgage payment. A renoviction would make me homeless. Fuck that and fuck this city, I'm out this summer.

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Good for you. First thing when you land in a place you like and can afford is to build a strong and reliable support system. Good luck to you!

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

Thank you. I'm a mega-loner hermit and where I'm going is a very small town. If there's a place for me in the community there I'll give it a shot, but even if not, I still think I'll be a lot better off than I am now.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Eventually not living anymore.

[–] Monzcarro@feddit.uk 6 points 1 day ago

The Winds of Winter being released. Surely its coming any day now...

But for real, the youngest is going to school in September so I will have an extra day off in the week with no work and no kids.

The sweet oblivion of death. No seriously, oblivion sounds awesome. Like that time I had surgery, but without the waking up afterwards part at the end.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago

My daughter is turning 12 and going to secondary school after summer. I'm hopefully graduating my bachelor after summer. My wife is starting nursing school after summer.

Lots to look forward to.

[–] RoomTempCoffee@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 day ago

My first therapy appointment tomorrow, which is way overdue. Somehow lucked out that there was someone in-network, checked all the boxes I needed, and literally 3 buildings over from my work.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

My oldest daughter is giving birth later this month. It's not my first grandchild, but it'll be the first one I get to have in my life. (Long story, in short one of my daughters didn't take her mom and dad's divorce well, nor her mom's subsequent marriage to me.)

So a new chapter of life begins. Concurrent with all the other ongoing chapters, of course....

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago

I have the same problem.. um I guess the resurgence of 80s style things again? Seems like a lot of people love the designs (I always have) and more and more stuff is trying to mimic that style. Also the resurgence of records and tapes is good, we need to own our media again and stop streaming. Also VR improving will be fun if we can keep corpo shit out of it

The release of a fully fledged steam OS for desktop, hopefully this year!

[–] Little8Lost@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Bazzite can already desktop so you dont have to wait for steam to do it. But steam, kde & co really help push linux forward

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

I built a PC with an AMD processor/GPU and only have bazzite installed on it, so trust me I am very well aware of it lol

I really like how to set it and forget it steamOS is. Bazzite is very close and very impressive, but I use steamOS on my steamdeck and I just prefer it overall.

Every time I say I want SteamOS, people come tell me to do bazzite - I know what it is, what I want is SteamOS.

Watching the collapse of civilisation and seeing people murder each other in the streets over food. Ha ha, silly humans.

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 2 points 1 day ago

Release of REMATCH, after that, depends on how Europe responds to USA

The summer holidays!
