"Killed in a shooting" and "dies in shooting" doesn't really describes what happened. He was murdered in a hate crime.

According to his husband, he was distraught at the sight of their dogs burnt carcass, at the site of their burnt house, which they both suspected to be arson because they were constantly bullied in their neighboorhood. Then some more homophobes came along and opened fire on the happy couple.

'No evidence' of hate crime in actor's shooting, San Antonio police say, so, yeah..

The same people who have been ignoring the homophobic threats for years "don't see evidence" that the man yelling homophobic slurs before attacking a gay couple committed a hate crime.
