I’m going to have to amplify Clownsinspace2’s suggestion of libreoffice.

It is free and open source. It will output files in any way you want including MS readable formats.

yea its just hard getting used to new UI, unfortunately i have fallen into Microsofts comfortablity trap

But MS changes the layout every new release. LibreOffice is customizable, and stays the way you choose.

MS Office has had the same basic layout for well over a decade now though?

Youll benefit so much once you rip the bandaid off, saves so much time instead of fathing around torrent sites.

In combination with this, you can change the ui, as other reply said.

I had the same issue when I moved from Office XP to OpenOffice, then switched to Libre Office. Then I had I job where I had to maintain multiple laptops for uses in our meeting and presentation space. Included on those laptops had to be Office. I tried switching back to Office, and found myself always reaching for Libre instead.

OP am glad you found the answer.

Adding this here for future reference if needed:

Official downloads from MS, perma activation via the scripts.

Works for Windows (all editions) as well.
