I can't wait for this to come out I love the Alien films

Article title aside, it sounds like the show will be more about capitalist dystopia than xeno kill count. I kind of wonder how much screen time the creatures have at all, compared to a Game of Thrones style character narrative.

The capitalist dystopia was always the true horror of the films. None of the terrible shit that happens in the first two films (or Resurrection) would have happened if capitalism wasn't heavily involved.

Fair point. I think only the AvP movies skip the capitalism commentary in favor of pure action-horror, and those are now non-canon.

I may be one of the only people on the planet that enjoys every single one of the Alien and Predator movies, though.

AvP is no longer canon? Why? It was the only Alien movie I've seen and I throughly enjoyed it when I saw it in theaters as a teen.

No, I also like pure action movies that don't give a fuck if the plot makes sense or is even believable and the AvP movies are awesome at that lol.

At least the first two Alien movies do make it very subtle, with the main focus still being action and horror. It just they actually cared about the story and the capitalism is the glue that makes the "why are they so stupid?" stick.

Great point: it's going to be expensive to show the aliens so it will likely start more convo/human driven.

How about watching an original movie or show with an original plot that isn't a hackneyed rehash of old ideas? How about that instead? Christ.

Fargo and Legion were both fantastic. Let the Leftovers Chef cook.

Ehh, I'm cynical about this with Hollywood too (Disney, Marvel, etc), but I'm hoping this is more of an extension of the franchise than a re-hash.

That being said, I'm sure I will be burned by it: it doesn't get an immediate mass of viewers and then is cancelled without a resolve. Rinse and repeat.

Both are possible....

Something I’ve started doing lately is watching movies from the 1930s and earlier. It’s a very different vibe.

Also, foreign movies. Night Watch is weird.

Not as far back as the 1930s but 1949's Kind Hearts and Coronets is very good.
