Definitely the shortest route ... to an early death.
Went right by the quarry with my stealth boy to avoid the death claws my first playthrough. Imagine my disappointment when they slapped me with the New Vegas credit check© after I got there.

Just take some medicine and run. It’s possible to run through Hans and casadores to Vegas. I did that
