I genuinely don't know what makes someone this racist.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 62 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Being completely insulated. Living in a strictly white community with conservative norms easily allows people like this to flourish.

[–] Organichedgehog@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Nah, this is far more intentional and less subtle. This is to get attention, for show. To get the ear of Donald Trump and his ilk.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 38 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Psychopathy. It’s really that simple. People aren’t people, they are objects in the environment to manipulate.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think that's sociopathy. I might be wrong though. Then again none of you are real so who cares?

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Technically they are not diagnoses, but informal terms that describe Anti-Social Personality Disorder.

In general, psychopaths are born, sociopaths are made.

That's crazy...

My mum is like this. She's in her late 70s now, it's getting worse and becoming a real problem in our relationship. She has this almost hysterical fear and dislike of immigrants, but she can't really say why. Just random stuff about how they are taking away our traditional way of life. She lives in a very white area, I live in a multicultural inner city, and on the rare occasions she visits she is shocked - "Look, she's wearing one of those hijab things!"

She was always politically naive and a bit racist but never this bad. I suspect it's largely due to the media she consumes and the people she hangs out with.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And for a white supremacist she sure doesn't look caucasian.

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Neither did the leader of the Proud Boys

I'm pretry much on board for replacing *ist/*phobic with just plain weird now. Enough of them seem to equate being called racist/sexist/transphobic or whatever with eliciting anger, which is what they thrive on.

There's still a time and place for the specific (and accurate) labels, but many of these clowns are just sad and, well, weird attention-seekers.

[–] Facebones@reddthat.com 8 points 1 year ago

I'm with this and have started at it myself when applicable. It also saves you time because it doesn't trigger that 3 hour pre programmed rant even though you said the exact same thing.

The other day in a meme channel of all things, in reply to some dumb Taco Bell "in the ad, in reality" image dude goes off about how the right image is actually a Weiner that identies as a taco, so i replied with "pretty fucking weird to be that obsessed with what strangers have in their takeout bag"

He didnt have anything to say to that lol

You say edgy shit in highschool because it sounds cool, and no one ever beats your ass so you keep doing it.

She is living proof that hate ages you. I would never have guessed she's 31.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

All that blow-up doll plastic surgery isn't helping.

[–] frickineh@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty firm on my stance that we should punch all nazis, but I'm not sure this "genetically superior" specimen would even feel it past all her filler.

Can someone explain what COLLA GREENS means in this context? Collared greens?

[–] criitz@reddthat.com 47 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Reminds me of that scene from the office

Michael Scott: ... colored greens ...

Stanley: It's collard greens.

Michael Scott: What?

Stanley: It's collard greens.

Michael Scott: That doesn't really make any sense. You don't call them collard people. That's offensive.

[–] MorrisonMotel6@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago

Jesus fucking christ, that was such a good joke. His ignorant / accidental(?) racism as a caricature was so funny to me because I know so many people like that

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah, my white grandfather's favorite meal. Collard greens and corn bread.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

As a white man, I love collard greens and corn bread. I can understand how it became associated with (poor) black communities, but damn is it good. It shouldn't be an insult like some people make it.

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I live in the South. Nobody here ever heard of “Soul Food”.

Everybody eats that because it’s awesome.

Go to a meat and three after Church on Sunday. You will see it full of happy old White People eating exactly what you described.

[–] Charapaso@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Exactly: my first time outside the South eating at a Soul Food place was funny, because to me it was just Food.

Yes, collard greens. Loomer is just using racist "ebonics" in her post.

[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would absolutely love for Melania to file for divorce like... maybe a week out for election day... Can we organise a go-fund-me? I don't want to give rich assholes more money but I'd pay to contribute to his total and utter public humiliation.

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Anyone got a bingo board for this?

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I wouldn’t feel comfortable carrying that around. It’s gonna have some awful things written on it.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe that's why he doesn't want another debate. He can't contain himself. I was listening, not watching, but the parts I did watch he wouldn't even look at her. He hates her so much.

Lady of any order is a stretch. How about Goto Gold Digger?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Uh, she's the one who keeps mentioning curry. Self-sustaining lie?

[–] mashbooq@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Jamelle Bouie recently said that he's certain Trump is going to drop a hard R before the election
