I'm getting my manager at work into flashlights. He's got a pair of D4's on the way, and I told him about my buddies D18. He liked the idea but wanted to see it. I showed him today and he was blown away, wants to keep it in his jeep when off-roading.

But I just realized Hank doesn't sell the D18 anymore...

Is there another light that would fulfill the same popcan sized wall of light that the D18 does? Or is anyone sitting on a D18 they're willing to part with?

Price is a factor, preferably around that same hundred dollars, but I'll pass along options even if they're more expensive.

Anduril is also preferred, but not required.

M44 Meteor? It’s something like a successor to the D18, with better optics and driver. Also available as dual channel.

M44 Meteor? That's cute, the OG was the M43 Meteor. I still have/use one.

Interesting! Not sure how I missed this! Wish I'd have seen this sooner, I grabbed a q8 plus.

Hank should really link this on the d18 page so people looking for the d18 can see a similar light

Edit: looks like he's stopped shipping to the US for awhile anyway, so, the q8 is really the only option at the moment.

Yeah, navigating Hanks website is a challenge! Nice choice, I have the Q8 Pro and the Plus looks like a nice upgrade compared to that. Also saw the banner, unfortunate… try JLhawaii for future Hank purchases, maybe he has good stock on some lights?

It looks like it's 14,000 lumens, flood, and uses three 18650 batteries.

The Sofirn Q8 Plus puts out 16,000 lumens, flood, uses three 21700s, and runs Anduril, at $106. I don't own one, though I have another Sofirn flashlight that I'm happy with. Don't know if I'd call myself a flashlight enthusiast, don't have a bunch of lights to compare it to and recommend against from personal experience.

/r/flashlights seems to have a number of posts talking about the D18 and Q8 Plus as being comparable.

EDIT: The website apparently lets US customers order from a warehouse in the US that I assume they filled before tariffs went into place, to avoid tariffs. I don't know how long their US-based stock will hold out, though.

There just aren't many lights in this category. The Q8 Plus is a good choice.
